She Called Her Best Friend A Gold Digger And Accused Her of Flaunting Money

This 39-year-old woman has been best friends with a woman named Jill, who is now 40, ever since they were in high school.
She also claimed that, from the beginning, Jill was always the “bombshell” in their friendship– with blonde hair and a tall and slim stature.
But, while everyone in their high school dated, including her, Jill never dated anyone. That really shocked her.
Then, by the time they went to college, Jill continued to turn guys down. By that point, she still couldn’t understand her best friend’s motives, and one day, she finally asked why Jill was so opposed to dating.
Well, it turned out that Jill just wanted to be with a man who was financially stable.
“I laughed it off at the time,” she recalled.
“I should also mention Jill grew up poor, as in her mother was going to the food bank poor.”
Anyway, following college graduation, she became a yoga instructor at a gym before continuing her education to become a teacher.
At the same time, Jill wound up meeting a guy at the gym who was very rich. According to her, she couldn’t even comprehend the amount of money that Jill’s boyfriend had.

Since then, Jill and her then-boyfriend have gotten married. They’ve also had two children together, and she believes that her best friend signed a prenup before tying the knot.
More recently, she and Jill also went out to dinner this past Saturday with two of their other friends from college. Apparently, Jill wanted to treat them to a very expensive restaurant.
She detailed how Jill “does that” often.
“Flaunts her money, clothes, trips, etc. I always try to smile and ignore it, but it has been slowly bothering me,” she revealed.
Still, the dinner was going fine until one of her friends, Amanda, asked what Jill had planned for her birthday.
At that point, Jill claimed to be going away with her husband for a three-week trip to Greece. Amanda, along with her other friend, Sharon, both made remarks about how lovely the trip would be.
She, on the other hand, admitted to scoffing at Jill’s birthday plans. Then, once Jill asked her what was wrong, she actually just went off on her so-called best friend.
“I told Jill that I’m tired of her flaunting her money at everyone all the time, and everyone knows she only married her husband for money,” she explained.
This immediately caused the table to fall silent for a few moments. However, to her surprise, Jill calmly asked if that was what everyone thought about her.
She was honest and plainly told Jill, “Yes.” But, Jill proceeded to ask if it was possible that she initially dated her husband for his money but actually fell in love with him in the process.
Right as her other two friends, Amanda and Sharon, answered, “Of course,” she came in with a resounding “No.”
She also claimed that Jill just fell in love with what her husband could provide for her.
This pushed Jill to ask if, right now, she loves what her boyfriend is able to provide for her. Yet she believes her situation is different since she did not start dating her boyfriend for what he provides.
Jill didn’t agree and countered back, saying, “Of course you did. If you were just attracted to him, but he wasn’t loving, providing, and caring, you wouldn’t still be in a relationship with him. And if you were, it would be an unhappy and unhealthy one.”
Regardless, she just did not share the same perspective as Jill and continued arguing that it was not an equal comparison.
So, Jill eventually stood up, told the group that she had other places to be, and instructed everyone not to worry about the restaurant bill.
Once Jill left, she and her two other friends had just finished their meals in silence. Afterward, the server brought over the check, and she was completely taken by surprise.
“When the server came around, he handed me the bill for my meal only,” she vented.
“She paid for herself and the other two but left me to pay for an almost $50 meal that I really couldn’t afford.”
That’s why, after leaving the restaurant, she texted Jill and called her a jerk.
Jill ultimately replied, and she was told not to message Jill again until she apologized for her comments.
So, she has since admitted that she may have gone too hard on Jill.
Nonetheless, she doesn’t think she was in the wrong, but has been left wondering whether basically calling Jill a golddigger really did make her a jerk.
Was it a bit hypocritical of her to call Jill out for flaunting money but then get angry when Jill left her to pay her own dinner bill? Does it sound like she might just be jealous of Jill’s financial situation or not? Who do you think was in the wrong here?
