She Wasn’t Happy That Her Sister Was Planning On Having Her Babysit Her Kids On A Vacation To Celebrate Her Graduation, So She Hid Her Passport So She Would Be Forced To Stay Home

If you have a relative in your family with little kids, have you ever been the designated babysitter?

It happens to a lot of younger people with older siblings or cousins with young kids.

One teenager was fed up when she found out she’d have to babysit her sister’s kids on a trip to celebrate her graduation, so she pretended to lose her passport at the last minute.

She’s 17, and her sister is 28 and married with two kids. Her sister’s kids are five and three years old. She still lives with her parents.

Whenever her sister visits, she always gets stuck entertaining her sister’s kids.

“This wouldn’t be a problem, except she doesn’t visit for an evening,” she said.

“She will come for a week. And for that week, I’m an unpaid nanny.”

Even outside the house, she still has to deal with the kids if they decide to go anywhere together. For instance, if they were to go to a restaurant, her mom would tell her to keep the kids happy so she could catch up with her sister and brother-in-law.

Recently, she thought she’d be getting a break from babysitting and enjoying some quality time with her parents. They told her since it was her last year before adulthood and she’d be graduating, they wanted to go on a family trip to Disneyland, which for them is an international trip.

“I asked who was going, and they said it was just the three of us,” she recalled.

“But when we got to the airport, my sister and her family were there. Strangely enough, they were also going to Disneyland. I went into my backpack and grabbed my passport. I put it in my sock.”

She knew she had to hide her passport and no longer go on the trip, as there was absolutely no way she’d be able to enjoy herself if she had to babysit the kids in Disneyland.

When her family got to airport security, she said she couldn’t find her passport. Her family made a scene looking for it, and when they couldn’t find it, she was sent home in an Uber while they went on their trip. While this may sound sad, she was extremely relieved. This meant she had a week of peace and quiet all to herself.

Her family was very mad at her for losing her passport, telling her she wasted a bunch of money. Then, a few days into their trip, they started texting her about how hard it was to keep track of the kids and told her she had “ruined” the trip.

Eventually, her dad found out what happened with her passport.

“My dad says he knows why I did [it], and he understands,” she said.

“But he says I should have let him know so he didn’t waste money. He said he would have gone along with my ruse. I feel bad about wasting money, but I have been to Disneyland before, and I will go again later by myself or with friends.”

Should she feel bad for what she did, or did she deserve some peace and quiet?
