The same night her dad had an accident in the kitchen, she decided to confront him.
“I told him he needs to work with me on this to get it figured out because I’m not going to keep dealing with this,” she said.
“I’ll pay someone else to [do it] if I have to. I told him he needs to at least wear diapers, or he’s ending up in the nursing home.”
This was a big thing to mention to her dad, as one of his greatest fears is ending up in a nursing home. At first, her dad became defensive, claiming if she hadn’t made him sit in the kitchen for dinner, he would’ve been closer to the bathroom and, therefore, able to avoid an accident.
She told her dad she never forced him to sit anywhere and that she knew he wouldn’t have been able to get to the bathroom even if he had been anywhere else in the house. Her dad eventually broke down and began crying.
While she feels bad for embarrassing her dad, she can’t deal with his accidents anymore and needs him to work with her.
Should she feel bad for telling her dad that she’ll send him to a nursing home if he doesn’t wear diapers?
