This 50-year-old woman’s husband, 52, is divorcing her.

Over the past two years, they have been trying to have what her husband sees as a civil divorce without too much drama or hard feelings.

However, she doesn’t agree with his view that they are divorcing on good terms because it was his choice for this divorce to happen and not hers.

When their relationship began, she believed that she did all she could to provide him with the emotional support he needed.

But once she had their son, 18, their intimacy dwindled.

Throughout the following 10 years, she was a stay-at-home mother, and she and her husband were only intimate once every several months.

In the last three years, they haven’t been intimate at all. She feels that while she is doing her best to continue emotionally supporting her husband within their marriage, his heart doesn’t seem to be in it anymore.

“My husband told me two years ago that he wanted a divorce but wanted it to be amicable. I cried at the thought of it. My husband didn’t want to mess up our son’s final high school years with one, so we waited. Now, our son is at college, and we’ve seen a mediator, and my husband is planning on moving out. I implored him not to abandon me after we built a life together, but his responses included: ‘I’ll make sure you can keep the house. You can keep my car, too, if you just give it up.’ No emotions. Just offering money as if it mends,” she said.

This past weekend, their son played in his first college football game. She and her husband drove to watch the game, and the last night they were there, they went out to a bar.

Everything was fine at first, but they started fighting about the divorce because she was pleading with her husband to stay together, but he doubled down on his decision to go forward with the divorce. After arguing for a bit, they walked out of the bar.

“Suddenly, I was much farther up ahead than my husband, and the guy came out of nowhere, clearly on something. I tried to run and was screaming. Fight or flight kicked in, and my ‘fight’ was I just wasn’t going to let him take my money, so I screamed and refused to let him take it,” she explained.

Then, her husband hit the man, which caused the man to look away from her, and all of his focus was now on her husband.

She took this opportunity to run to the closest business she could find, and she ran in, yelling for someone to help them.

“I got help, but I had been punched and pulled and was treated in a hospital. However, my husband had been punched hard in the head and had to stay in the hospital because he had a head injury, was dizzy, had blurry vision, and was suffering from mood swings. I was so dazed coming out and just wanted to get home,” she shared.

As soon as her son learned of the attack, he came to the hospital and stayed with her husband. Her son is furious because while he acknowledges that they’ll be divorcing soon, he believes that her husband saved her life.

In her son’s view, she should be “treating him as a hero.” But even though she is appreciative that her husband jumped in to distract the man, she is also aware that random people on the street could have done the exact same thing.

She feels devastated that her husband has been emotionally and physically distant for such a long time.

Plus, she believes that since they’ve been intimate in the past, it’s clear that her husband doesn’t care about her when they are no longer intimate with one another.

Understandably, she’s still furious with what her husband told her prior to leaving the bar. He called her “delusional” and said that she inflates how much she emotionally supports him, and she doesn’t do as much as she claims.

She can predict that once her husband has healed and doesn’t need to rely on anyone’s assistance after a few weeks, he’ll go back to discussing their looming divorce. She’s heartbroken that their marriage can’t be saved.

How would you feel if you were in her shoes?
