Her Daughter Threw A Tantrum About Having To Walk To The Bus Stop This Morning In The Cold And Snow

This woman and her family live in the upper part of America, and she says that this time of year, snow and cold are not uncommon.
She’s used to having winters that are harsh, and many times, it gets down to 0 or negative temperatures throughout the winter months.
Earlier this morning, they had a little bit of snow, and the temperature was around 32 degrees, which is not strange for late October.
She has lived in this part of the country for her entire life, so she’s completely used to this weather pattern by now.
Last year, her 10-year-old daughter’s bus stop system switched. Her daughter’s bus used to stop at every single house along the route, and now the bus stops at one pickup location for all of the neighborhood kids.
It takes her daughter 3 minutes tops to walk from their house to her bus stop, and she doesn’t have to cross any roads to get there.
There’s a little bike path that wraps around a pond, and this is the route her daughter takes to get to the bus every school day.
“My husband works as a part-time snow plow driver, so he has to leave early on snow days (3 a.m. today instead of his usual 8),” she explained.
“He normally drives her to the spot on his way to work a couple of minutes before the bus gets there. I’m a SAHM. We also have a 1 and 4-year-old.”

“The 1-year-old is normally still asleep during the morning routine and sleeps for at least an hour afterward. I use that time to get quite a bit of the daily things around the house that need to be done without a baby attached.”
Well, this morning, her daughter pitched a complete fit about how cold it was outside. Her daughter also melted down about having to wear her winter coat and walk to the bus.
Her daughter demanded that she wake up the baby, put him in the car, and drive her to her bus stop, or just leave the baby home alone, sleeping, so she could be driven to the bus.
She didn’t like either of those options for the baby and since her daughter is 10, she feels she’s completely capable of standing outside to wait for the bus for a bit. Some of the children in their neighborhood have to walk further than her daughter does, and they do this every single day.
“She left in a huff pretty early to the bus getting there, refusing to wear gloves or snow pants (but conceded with a sweater, light winter coat, and hat),” she said.
“…I talked to [my] husband later, and he said I could’ve done option 1, and it wouldn’t have been that big of a deal. I think I shouldn’t have to wake the baby up and disrupt his day. On the super negative or windy days, I will drive her if [my] husband is gone. I thought we’d have a couple more months until then, and 1-year-old will be in a different sleep stage, hopefully weened off night bottles by then.”
She’s left wondering if it was mean of her to make her daughter walk to the bus stop in the cold this morning.
