She’s Being Blamed For Ruining A Photographer’s Reputation After She Publicly Shamed Them For Selling Pictures Of Her Horse Without Her Consent

Can you imagine having someone take a picture of you, your child, or your pet and then selling it to make products without your permission?
One woman recently gave a photographer public scathing reviews after they sold photos of her horse to several businesses so they could make products with her horse’s picture on them without her permission.
She’s 30-years-old and sadly lost her beloved horse of 20 years, Diago, last year. Not long after the pandemic, she knew he didn’t have much time left as he had several health issues, so she thought it’d be a sweet idea to have a photoshoot with him.
She found a photographer through a mutual friend, and they photographed her and Diago together.
“The photos were great, and I still cherish them to this day, as they remind me of [our] good times together,” she said.
However, the photos from her shoot with Diago became more public than she had intended.
A few weeks ago, she was shopping online and came across a pillow for sale with Diago’s picture printed on it.
She recognized his distinct facial markings and saw it was one of the photos taken during their shoot.
“I have asked the site to take it down, but they informed me they bought the rights off the photographer so that they won’t be taking it down,” she explained.

“Since then, I have come across multiple businesses [printing] him on pillows, portraits, diamond paintings, cross stitches – you name it. This was very upsetting for me since I haven’t agreed to this, and I feel our memories were violated.”
She tried contacting the photographer to talk to them about this issue, but they never responded. As she did more investigating, she discovered the photographer had been selling several photos of their clients to businesses. So, she reached out to those clients to let them know what the photographer was doing.
Then, she left a scathing public review on the photographer’s social media pages since she never got any answers from them.
A few days ago, the photographer finally called her, but instead of apologizing, they started yelling at her, telling her she had ruined their reputation and that she should be grateful for the photos they took of Diago, which other people will now cherish.
Should she feel bad for giving the photographer a bad review, or did the photographer deserve it?
