For the last seven years, this 35-year-old woman has been married to her 36-year-old husband. Her husband is a professor at a college where he teaches English Literature, and he has held this role for several years.
A month ago, her husband sat her down and grabbed her hands in his. She was instantly terrified as she looked at the expression that crossed her husband’s face, and she very anxiously asked her husband what was going on.
He informed her that he is resigning from his position at the college, and when she pressed him as to why he’s doing this, he admitted he developed passionate feelings for one of his 19-year-old female students.
“I felt like someone had knocked all the air out of me because I just sat gawping at him for what felt like ages,” she explained.
“After that, there were things I needed to know. My main question was whether he had ever acted on his “intense feelings” and put this girl in danger. He was quick to defend himself and told me nothing like that ever happened, and everything he ever felt had never been acted on.”
“He said that was why he felt he had to leave his job. He apologized to me over and over, but all I could do was sit in silence, staring into space. I was far too numb to even process my own feelings or communicate them to him, but pretty much knew in that moment I needed space and that our marriage was over.”
Her husband broke her heart and crushed her by confessing his feelings for his student. She and her husband have a second house that sits on the edge of the city where they live, and she has been spending time there since he shared the horrific news with her.
She has talked to her husband a tiny amount on the phone, and she did admit she wants to get a divorce.
Her husband was upset, but he agreed to give her what she wanted before saying sorry yet again for ruining their marriage.
