About eight months ago, TikToker Brigette’s (@brigettejean) engagement was called off. But what makes her story truly haunting is not the breakup itself; it’s the chilling twist that followed when she tried to reach out to the priest who was supposed to marry her and her ex-fiancé.
Before everything fell apart, she invited the priest over for dinner so he could finally meet her then-fiancé. She wanted him to get to know them better as a couple.
“I cooked a lovely meal,” Brigette said.
“He did show up an hour early, but we just got to spend an extra hour with him. But so, he was over at the house for five hours. It went lovely, so I was actually really happy with my ex-fiancé, like he really did a great job with the priest. He wasn’t raised Catholic, and I was really happy with how the dinner went.”
Everything seemed picture-perfect—until it wasn’t. They broke up two weeks later. The wedding was off, and she needed to let the priest know that the ceremony he had been preparing for would no longer happen.
It took her a week to muster up the strength to call the priest and tell him what had happened. But the call went to voicemail, so she left him a message stating that she needed to speak with him about something important. She didn’t go into detail, figuring that she’d explain everything once he returned her call.
However, she didn’t hear back from him that day or the day after that, which she thought was odd. She told her mom about it, and her mom started laughing.
Her mom’s reaction caught her off guard because the situation wasn’t funny at all. Then, her mom revealed that the priest had died on the day that Brigette called to tell him that the engagement was called off.
“And so, I never got to tell him because I didn’t leave it on the voicemail, and he’s not calling me back now,” she said. “He knows everything because he’s up there. He watched; he knows everything now.”

That was what her March 2025 was like. It’s the kind of story you really can’t make up. The eerie coincidence made it seem like the priest somehow did find out after all.
Maybe he knew his time was coming, and he felt compelled to meet the couple before he passed. Or perhaps his death could be taken as a sign that Brigette was not supposed to marry her ex anyway.
Whether it was a coincidence or something beyond logical explanation, Brigette’s story is a reminder that life and death sometimes have a timing that we just can’t make heads or tails of.
