In December 2017, TikToker Cydni (@cydnisimmons) was attacked by her Rottweiler, which led to her having to get her arm amputated. She underwent a total of 21 surgeries and 17 blood transfusions.

At the time, she was 20 years old and was going to college to study animal science. She returned home for Christmas break to find that her Rottweiler had unexpectedly given birth to a puppy.

Her family had three Rottweilers, and two of them ended up breeding. The new mother did not want anything to do with the puppy.

“She was still in her hot girl mode, and she was not feeding that puppy,” Cydni recalled.

“She was not bathing it. I think she stepped on it because its back legs were not working properly. So, I had to step up to take care of this puppy. I was bottle feeding it, cleaning it, doing all that jazz.”

One day, she went outside after nurturing the puppy. She was on her phone, so she wasn’t paying much attention to her dogs. They did not growl, bark, or show any signs of aggression.

But as she was about to go back inside, the dad jumped on her, which was not abnormal for him. He was a large dog that often acted like a puppy.

She pushed him off, but he didn’t like that. They started wrestling around in the yard. Luckily, Cydni’s mom came home from work and saw what was happening. So then, they both began fighting the dog. Her mom grabbed a steel-toed boot and accidentally hit her over the head with it.

They had to call the police for help. They pulled up on motorcycles in just a matter of minutes. It took four tries for them to make the dog let go of Cydni. After that, she still hadn’t fully processed what had happened.

She was loaded into an ambulance with her arm intact. She saw a white light and passed out in the ambulance. The next thing she knew, she woke up in the hospital. She lost her arm due to the mistakes they made at the hospital.

Several TikTok users shared their own experiences with larger dogs prone to aggression in the comments section.

“My sister has a Rottweiler, and he started having seizures, and she didn’t know. He started becoming aggressive. She took him to the doctor to have all the MRIs, like dog MRIs, and they found out it’s because of the seizures,” commented one user.

“I once spent 10 minutes trying to separate my 120-pound Rott and Rott/French mastiff that were fighting with no success then suddenly remembered they were both highly trained security working dogs and so I gave the ‘out’ command, and they immediately let go and walked away,” shared another.

“My ex’s pit bit my bag once, and I stopped going over there because I was so terrified of her turning on me. And I like dogs; I treated her well,” added a third.
