When TikToker Alex (@alex.in_italics) was a kid, his father started dabbling in the occult. He joined a group of Rosicrucians, which is a witchcraft cult. He would bring some items home to their apartment and lock himself in his bedroom after work.
“If we were in there, he would have us leave, and he would perform some sort of ritual,” Alex said. “We weren’t allowed in. He didn’t tell us what he was doing, but it was something to do with the witchcraft.”
Before long, strange things began happening in the apartment. Eventually, Alex’s mother left his father, and they moved in with their family.
Alex, his mother, and his sister all had to share a room. His mother and sister slept in the same bed, while he slept in a separate one.
One night, he woke up at around three in the morning, as he had been doing for the past several nights for some reason. But on this particular night, he turned to face his mother and sister’s bed and saw a bright blue light radiating from his mother.
His mother was lying in bed asleep, but a spirit or ghost took the form of this light and sat up on the bed. It was shaped just like his mother, with the same hair, face, and torso.
It sensed that Alex was looking at it, so it turned to face him. However, there was something strange in her look, almost foreign. It appeared confused, as if it couldn’t understand why Alex was in her presence.
“And this freaked me out, of course, after a few seconds,” he recalled.
“I guess after I absorbed it and processed it in my five-year-old mind, I began to scream bloody murder. And it looked at me. It was still looking at me, and when I started to scream, it kind of just turned back forward and it laid back down.”

As bright as this ghost/spirit was, it did not cast any light on its surroundings. When it disappeared, he jumped out of bed and went over to his mother, but she wasn’t waking up. His 12-year-old sister woke up and told him to go back to bed, thinking that he must’ve had a nightmare.
The next morning, his mother was getting ready for work, and he tried to tell her about what had happened, but she was too busy. He kept trying for about two weeks.
Finally, she stopped to listen to his story, but she had zero memory of it. Over the next few weeks, she had him repeat the story and even told their family about it.
Many TikTok users took to the comments section to tell of their own experiences from beyond this realm.
“I had a similar experience when my sister passed and was lying in the coffin. I saw her spirit, bright blue, sit up and look around like she was confused. Then, she laid down. I watched her spirit sit up, look around, and lay down about three times. I will never forget that,” shared one user.
“I absolutely believe you because when I was around 12, my dad’s aunt died, and she hated me for some reason I didn’t know why. Next night after she passed, she arose on the side of my bed in a blue light. And I could see her and even smell her perfume she used to wear. I was paralyzed with fear for a while, but then ran through her screaming and crying,” commented another.
“I’ve seen a blue ball of light come into my room through my window when I was young. It wasn’t in the form of a human but more orb-like, that had a trail coming from behind it. As a kid, I called it a big blue ball of light,” added someone else.
