Most people remember Rue McClanahan for playing the iconic character Blanche on The Golden Girls. But off-screen, her life was filled with close relationships, love, loyalty, and brushes with the supernatural. TikToker Maria (@paranormalonso) is sharing a story about Rue’s lifelong friend named Rill.

Rue and Rill met when they were both 10 years old in the fourth grade. They were inseparable. They went to college together, met a woman named Christina, and they became a tight-knit trio. Their bond spanned decades, truly standing the test of time.

In the early 2000s, Rill was diagnosed with an illness. His health worsened, and everyone knew the end was near. Rue was at Rill’s side with Christina and Rill’s mother during the final days.

Rue and Rill did not believe in the afterlife, but she still asked him to try and give her a sign—something to do with electricity—after he passed.

That night, Rill passed away. Christina went home, but Rue stayed with Rill’s mother at their house. His mom turned on the lights in the kitchen.

As soon as all nine bulbs were on, they burned out immediately.

His mom thought it was super strange. The bulbs usually burned out one at a time. They never just turned off that way. The next day, Rue decided to send an email to Christina.

Right when she hopped on the computer and pulled up her inbox, the computer started spazzing out.

So, she called Christina on the phone instead. Christina told her that when she turned on all the lights in her kitchen the previous night, the bulbs burned out. Rue tried to tell Christina about how it was a sign from Rill, but the phone cut out.

Then, she asked Christina to come over. She told her all about the promise Rill made her. The most extraordinary moment came about 10 days later, when Rue was in Rill’s living room.

When she turned around, she saw him sitting there, clear as day. The sight wasn’t terrifying, but deeply comforting. She felt reassured by his presence, and in some way, it was like he was still watching over her.
