On December 6, 23-year-old TikToker @ak47moneyswagg matched with a guy named Jack on a dating app. They both graduated from the University of Alabama. He was a little older than her.
They exchanged phone numbers and started texting. As they’ve been getting to know each other, she asked to see his social media accounts, but he refused to tell her his last name. He kept giving random excuses to avoid telling her, including that he was embarrassed by his last name.
They planned a date, but it never happened because on the morning of, he texted her saying that his dad had been in a car accident.
He was in the ICU, hooked up to a ventilator, and had a brain bleed, so he had to fly home to New Jersey right away.
Of course, she was very understanding about it and helped console him throughout this crisis. Then, one day, her best friend, Reagan, and her coworkers came across Jack’s Instagram account after some extensive detective work.
“They found his fraternity’s Instagram and a picture that I had tagged of him or something from 2017 because he graduated way before me,” she explained.
According to the account, Jack seemed to be a very active Instagram user. He could almost even be classified as a content creator. This was strange because the person she had been talking to had claimed he didn’t use Instagram or have an account.
Now that she had his first and last name, she proceeded to stalk him on other platforms. As she went through the pictures, she realized that every single photo he had sent to her was also on his Instagram, and many of them were from months ago.
At that point, she had come to the conclusion that she was being catfished. She noticed other shady details, too. For instance, some of the photos had been edited, and when she searched up the person’s phone number in a special website, it gave her the name of a girl.

She found the girl in Jack’s following list on Instagram. So, this girl must have something against Jack and is now getting revenge on him by impersonating him.
The catfish then said their dad was going back into brain surgery but would be grabbing a drink with an old high school friend. The whole story did not add up.
She revealed that her friends had found Jack’s Instagram account to see how the catfish would react.
The person messaged back, turning on the waterworks and saying that they couldn’t be together because of everything going on with his dad.
TikToker @ak47moneyswagg ended up reaching out to the real Jack to let him know that someone was impersonating him.
The real Jack responded, telling her not to text that number again. He was aware that someone was trying to steal his identity and was working on confronting them.
