When TikToker @witandwhimsical and her family moved into an old plantation-style house, she had a bad feeling about it. She could tell that something was off about the house from the moment they arrived, but she was unable to explain why.
The house was built in the 1940s or ’50s and still contained remnants of a different era. It had a maid’s quarters and a bell that could be rung to fetch the servants when they were needed.
Those historical details might be fascinating to some people, but in this case, they only seemed to add to the unsettling atmosphere of the house.
One night, she woke up suddenly with the blankets pulled over her head. She could feel a heavy weight pressing down on top of her and heard a deep, low growl.
She knew something was really wrong, so she decided to pray. After roughly five minutes of praying, she felt the heaviness lift, and the growling stopped.
Then, she became very thirsty, so she went downstairs to get a glass of water. As she started walking through the dark banquet area, she sensed the darkness getting even darker.
When she heard a growl come from behind her, she stopped in her tracks. All of a sudden, she felt a sharp pain as if someone had scratched her on the back.
This caused her to scream and drop her glass of water, which shattered into countless pieces on the ground. The commotion woke her dad and stepmom. They rushed over and turned on the lights.
Her stepmom examined her and found three scratch marks on her back that were bleeding. Her shirt was torn apart where the scratches were.
She started crying even harder. She told them what she had experienced, and her stepmom believed her right away. Her dad was a little more skeptical.
“Now, my stepmom was part of a Catholic church, and she had a priest named Father Carolyn come and bless the house,” recalled @witandwhimsical.
“We had to drink holy water. He was blessing the house everywhere, and it went away for a little bit. But then, it came back a few months later.”
Over the years, they had the house blessed multiple times. The repeated blessings seemed to provide temporary relief, but whatever haunts the house is determined to stay there.
To this day, her dad still lives in the house. She and her sister have told him that the house was haunted, but he has not yet moved away.
“It’s not just haunted, but I really believe that whatever this was, was demonic,” said @witandwhimsical. “I have been attacked multiple times by this thing throughout the years. Haven’t been attacked recently, but it is one of the scariest experiences that I have ever had.”
