G-Shock Mini GMN691 Series Review

gmn691 series xlarge G Shock Mini GMN691 Series Review

The G-Shock Mini is a fresh new series produced by Casio that is built for durability while still being chic and feminine.  The G-Shock Mini is a spin-off of the original Casio G-Shock that has larger dimensions and a rugged design that appeals more to men.  It is the perfect answer to those calling for the same durable traits as the G-Shock, but in a more compact and sophisticated style.  Like its big brother, the G-Shock Mini series is water and shock resistant making it the trademark for style and strength.

R&B and Pop artist Rhianna has always been an icon of originality and glamor with her fashion designs, hairstyles, and trendy accessories.  Recently in her new video “Rude Boy” she adorned a variety of Casio watches including G-Shock Minis.  The timepieces were creatively connected to form a large voguish bracelet.  The G-Shock Mini goes perfectly with Rhianna’s trendsetting sophisticated lifestyle, and if it is ready to meet the rigorous demands of her high power performances, it will be able to handle the daily wear of mine.

Rhianna is part of a notable group of female artists who also adorn Casio timepieces such as Fergie, Jordin Sparks, Kristinia DeBarge, and Lady Gaga.  These and other fashionistas know that the Mini is durable and functional enough for their high energy on-the-go lifestyles, and trendy enough to go with any cutting-edge wardrobe. And unlike Gaga’s wardrobe, this watch is actually very comfortable.

As mentioned, the G-Shock Mini GMN691 series is shock resistant and 100M water resistant.   This is perfect for active sports such as jogging, kayaking, or swimming.  The Mini has an EL backlight with an afterglow for checking information or the time in the dark.  For the world travelers or a business conference in a different locality, you will always be punctual with the World Time feature of the Mini.  This includes the times for 29 different time zones in 48 different cities, city code displays, and a daylight savings option.

The G-Shock Mini includes the helpful features of four daily alarms, one snooze alarm, an hourly time signal, and a countdown timer for your daily needs.  The measuring unit of the G-Shock Mini is 1 second with and input range of 1 minute to 24 hours with 1-minute increments and 1-hour increments.  The Mini has a precise stopwatch that counts 1/100 seconds.   It measures in elapsed time, split time, and 1st-2nd place times with a measuring capacity of 59’59.99”.

You won’t have to worry about the date for years to come as the G-Shock Mini has an auto calendar that is pre-programmed up to the year 2099 and has 12/24 hour formats.  The accuracy of the times is +/- 30 seconds per month.  There is a button operation tone that may be turned on or off.  The Mini uses a CR1616 battery with a life of approximately three years.  The Mini is module 3188.

As of now the G-Shock Mini GMN691 series is available in three different models with three distinct colors.  The GMN691G-1 has a sleek black resin band and black face.  The GMN691-7B has a white resin band and a reverse neon green LCD face.  The GMN691-4 has a pink resin band with a black face.

Coming in at $79.00 this is a smart investment for a timepiece that will go the extra mile.  The features for such a compact watch are quite amazing and extensive.  The G-Shock Mini will pay for itself with all of the use and abuse it can endure, and the precise schedule it will enable you to sustain anywhere in the world.

The good: Waterproof, comfortable to wear, shock resistant, not bulky, times for 29 different time zones in 48 cities, easy to read digital screen, reasonable price.
The bad: Cannot work properly in temperatures below freezing or above 100 F., no list of abbreviations for the different cities.

I would use the chrono feature. My job requires us to wear a watch and I need one with a chrono. These mini G’s are perfect for that as they are feminine and cool on top of being practical. I am currently wearing a ten year old black baby G but would love to trade it for this cutie!

I would use this as an everyday watch. I really don’t own many watches at all. In fact, I have had and have worn the same one for almost 20 years! But it has no bells and whistles. It’s a very simple dial watch. It still works fine, but it would be great to have a watch like the G-Shock Mini GMN69 that has so many useful options. I really would just wear this everyday. I’d take it on travel with me and always know what time it is without having to guess the correct time zone. I’d use the alarm features to help me wake up or remind me of important meetings. I’d use it while jogging and hiking. (I’m getting excited already!) I really like the resin band as well because not only will that clean easily, but I’m allergic to metal bands. Thanks for introducing this Mini, and thanks for the giveaway.

How to use.. Does it make a good mixer with scotch? Pro’lly not.. It’s water resistant: a fishing lure for large-mouth bass? Hmm, nothing looks like a hook on the watch or the band.. Howzabout just strapping it on so I know when I’m late for work. Again.
