Not too long ago, we profiled Lookout Mobile Security for Android phones, a security suite for your smartphone. Lookout Mobile Security is now coming to BlackBerry phones, in both free and premium versions, like for Android. What you’ll get won’t be unfamiliar – it’s basically a a PC security suite, molded specifically for mobile devices. You’ll get anti-malware, anti-spyware, and antivirus software, and Lookout will prevent transfer of a virus from your computer to your mobile device during a sync, should there be an unknown bad file lurking on your PC. There’s also a GPS tracker which will tell you where your phone is, should it be lost or stolen. Back-up and restore functions are also available. The premium version, which is based on a subscription (either $2.99 per month or $29.99 per year), includes remote wiping and locking. Malicious websites will be automatically blocked, as well. Transferring your data to a new phone is also possible, similar to the service Apple’s iCloud will soon be offering. Mobile platforms are bound to become more and more of a target for viruses and malware, so it’s nice to know Lookout will be looking out for you if you need it. I’d suggest trying out the free version, to see if it gibes with you. It’s available now on BlackBerry App World.
