There are many people in one family. All of those people likely have one or more gadgets by themselves, let alone the gadgets the family shares – televisions, video game consoles, computers, and so on. Everyone trying to use those gadgets at once is going to make things really slow.
That’s the line of thinking behind the new My Net HD dual-band routers from Western Digital. Western Digital is using proprietary FasTrack optimization technology to detect and prioritize data from entertainment sources like Netflix, Hulu, Xbox Live, or YouTube. If you’re having any problem with heavy bandwidth use slowing down your home wireless network, these routers could solve your problems quickly and easily.
Set-up will be only as complex as you want it to be. Once set-up is completed, the My Net Dashboard will give users options to change settings, set parental controls, adjust security settings, allow guest network access, and change printer and scanner settings.
The routers in the line vary mostly by Wi-Fi speed and Ethernet/Gigabit ports, save for the My Net N900 Central. The My Net N900 Central is a combination router and external hard drive, packing in either 1 or 2 TB of storage. That storage space can be accessed wirelessly, meaning you can essentially use it as a home cloud storage device or to back-up important files. It’s also compatible with both Windows and Mac back-up software.
The Western Digital My Net HD routers are available now. Prices range from $79.99 for the My Net N600 to $349.99 for the 2 TB My Net N900 Central.
