We always love ourselves a good traveling bag capable of handling and organizing all of our gadgets and tech-requirements. The Laptop Weekender V.3 may look like a regular duffel, but it contains more than a dozen pockets/organizers/compartments and even a specially protected laptop holster. With all the room for your gizmos and gadgets, there’s still room for a weekend’s (or in my case, a week’s) worth of clothing and travel necessities.
The Laptop Weekender V.3 has become a personal fave for a variety of reasons. Mainly, it doesn’t go overboard. It’s a seemingly regular weekend-sized duffel bag, but it’s infused with tech features. The design’s not too flashy (at least until you open it up), and it’s a high-quality travel companion great for business or leisure. It’s designed to fit in any overhead compartment, which I can vouch for.
The outside of the case sports an ultra-durable micro-ballistic nylon with a tad of sexy blue trim. The inside is covered in the same ultra-blue, but in a soft “oxford” nylon material. Both materials are water repellant. The bottom of the case protects against moisture and abrasion. We put the Weekender to the test on a few different adventures, and it still looks brand new.
Let’s talk pockets. There’s one large zippered pocket on each side of the Skooba. Each pocket is padded and has two zippers that extend to the bottom of the bag. There’s a large front pocket designed for laptops up to 15″. This pocket is well cushioned with a “bumper bar” for shock absorption. Easy access to your laptop is essential, especially for the airport security X-Ray machine. There’s a side pocket that has a velcro padded sleeve intended to protect your iPad, with or without a case. This side pocket also has a large zippered mesh pocket. There are no organizers or pockets inside Skooba’s other side pocket.
The last pocket is where most of your smaller tech products will go. Inside, there are four pockets; two are roughly cell phone sized, one is about the size of a 7″ tablet/e-reader, and the last is a pen pocket. There’s also an ID card holder, a key clip, and a large zippered mesh pocket.
Additionally, the Skooba Weekender V3 rocks “Self-repairing zippers”, seatbelt-grade nylon webbing, the patented twist-resistant removable Superbungee shoulder strap, handles on both sides of the bag, and a rear trolly strap that you can slide to the handle of a rolling suitcase. The Superbungee shoulder strap helps dissipate the weight along your shoulder.
Of course there s nothing about the Skooba Weekender that says it requires technology, it simply means it has great organizers, separators, and protection. The real bonus is that it has a built-in laptop compartment, so there’s no need for a separate bag. The Skooba Weekender V.3 is top notch as a protective traveling duffel that can withstand the wear and tear of intense travelers. At $179.95, it’s not cheap, but good luggage never is. It’s currently available from Amazon.com. SkoobaDesign.com offers a 20% discount for enrolling in their newsletter, but the Weekender is on back-order for a few weeks.
