You’ll Need James Bond To Open this Bottle of Bollinger

Bollinger is popping off the cork on their own celebration of the 50th anniversary of the James Bond film franchise with a limited edition bottle of champagne.

The £125 (about $200) 002 for 007 Bollinger champagne is a bottle of 2002 Bollinger, which is apparently highly regarded in the world of champagne (according to Bollinger, so not exactly an unbiased source). The special part of this limited edition set is what the bottle comes in – a case shaped like the silencer that goes on Bond’s Walther PPK, his ever-present pistol companion.

Bollinger really has the Bond connection working, too – the champagne has appeared in 12 Bond films, starting with Live and Let Die – that accounts for over half of the 007 films made in the franchise’s 50 year history.

It’s also great that Bollinger has done their part to replace 002, who took a shot from the golden gun of Scaramanga in The Man With the Golden Gun. Anyone who’s ever seen the movie or played Goldeneye on the Nintendo 64 knows what happens when that goes down.
