T-Mobile just launched their 4G LTE service a few months ago, and today the announced the sum total of the progress made so far – and it’s ahead of schedule.
In those initial months, T-Mobile announced today that they have launched 4G LTE service in 116 major metropolitan areas, covering 157 million people. T-Mobile’s previously announced goal for the middle of the year was to cover 100 million, so they’re far ahead of schedule and looking good to reach their end-of-the-year goal of 200 million covered in 200 metropolitan areas.
For now, the areas covered include New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Chicago, Boston, Philadelphia, Dallas, Seattle, Atlanta, and Miami, with more to come before the year is up. So, if you’re not a big fan of contracts, you can finally have your cake and eat it, too – a major carrier, sans contracts, with 4G LTE service.
