So, you can get a calling plan with unlimited data for $70 per month from T-Mobile. That’s not bad. If you go with Virgin Mobile, you can get that down to $35. Pretty good. But $19, for unlimited everything? Complete monthly phone service for a little over the cost of your dinner? Sounds too good to be true, but it is at Republic Wireless.
Republic Wireless is indeed offering unlimited texting, calling, and data for $19 per month. With that kind of price, you have to figure an explanation is in order. Republic Wireless stays cheap by offering Hybrid Wi-Fi calling – by storing more and more Wi-Fi networks on your phone, your phone will start to connect to them automatically whenever you get into range. Usually, that just means you can do some web browsing without having it count against your data cap. With Republic Wireless, it means that everything – calling, texting, and data – will be handled via Wi-Fi, keeping things cheap for you and all the other Republic Wireless subscribers out there.
For the times when you can’t use Wi-Fi, Republic Wireless will use Sprint’s 3G network, instead, so you won’t find yourself without service if you’re not in range of a Wi-Fi signal. As long as your area is covered by Sprint, you can head all around town knowing that you have the cheapest wireless service you can find anywhere.
If you’re interested in Republic Wireless, the first step is to get a phone from them – specifically, the Motorola DEFY XT for $200. A little expensive, but not too bad for an unsubsidized smartphone. Besides, it’ll pay for itself in no time, considering that you’ll be paying $19 per month for service. That sounds a whole lot better than a $100 plus, right? If you’re looking to restore some sanity to your monthly wireless bill, is a pretty good place to start.
