Now that it’s here, you have to wonder why this isn’t a more widespread thing. Sony is releasing what will no doubt be a handy little device – a USB drive with both USB and micro USB connectors.
The drive will be an all-purpose flash drive that can handle file transfers and backups for your mobile devices and PCs alike. A lot of people are going to be sold just on that use-case alone – the fact that you can use it as an easy way to share files in bulk with a friend while mobile just sweetens the pot. No more heading home meaning to send your friend all those concert pictures you took, only to keep forgetting to do it for months. One unfortunate thing, though – the USB connector is just USB 2.0, not the speedier 3.0.
The 2-in-1 drives are available in 8 GB, 16 GB, and 32 GB models, in three different colors. They’ll be available in January 2014, and will cost $20, $30, and $63, respective to storage capacity.
