Casio’s new STB-100 is a smartwatch fitness companion. It uses low energy wireless technology to access and send data to and from fitness apps on your iPhone via Bluetooth 4.0, as well as to control music, and let you know when you have calls or emails. The 4 main compatible fitness Apps on the app store that are used are: Abvio’s Runmeter, Walkmeter, Cyclemeter, and Wahoo Fitness, with more expansions expected from Casio.
Some of the information that can be accessed through these apps are running pace and distance, pulse, lap times, and more. The STB-1000 also comes with the Casio favorites such as the obvious time display, daily alarms, and a countdown timer. It is 100m water resistant and has a 2 year battery life. While it may not have all the bells and whistles of other fitness trackers out there, it is likely to have just what you need at a very affordable price and with good durability, true to the Casio brand. No word just yet on when it is available or for what price. See Casio for more. Also, check out how it compares with the G-Shock 6900.
