The iPad Pro is stunning — it would be a shame to drop it and break that beautiful screen! You’ll most certainly need a good case to protect it, and one of the early options on the market is this iPad Pro case from Urban Armor Gear.
At first glance, it is clear that this case was designed for heavy-duty protection. The rubber shell has reinforced corners to help absorb impacts from short drops and it is flexible enough to easily insert and remove the iPad Pro. There are openings for all buttons, ports, and the four speakers.
There is a built-in holder for the Apple Pencil, which is great if you will definitely be using one. However, if you won’t be using it often or at all, the holder is awkward and is in the way while holding the iPad in portrait position. That said, many will no doubt be using the iPad Pro on a table or desk, and the built-in aluminum stand offers five viewing angles in landscape mode. When fully open, the stand allows for viewing in portrait mode, as well. While the stand does indeed work well, it feels loose and flimsy when holding the case in your hand. It also is a concern as to whether or not it will hold up under repeated daily use.
The Apple Smart Keyboard hasn’t been forgotten. There is a plastic section on the side of the rubber shell which can be removed in order to attach the keyboard. Not a bad design, but it does leave you figuring out where to store this plastic piece when it’s removed. It could easily be lost and feels a bit cheap.
The case itself is well put together, but it just doesn’t feel comfortable to hold. If you will be working at a desk or table primarily and want to make sure your iPad is safe should it fall, then it’s a good choice. This is a good case for the right person. If that’s you, you can order the UAG iPad Pro case in one of three available colors (black, red, or blue) for $80 from Amazon.
