No one likes to wait. That’s especially true in the world of business, where time is money. A smarter, more efficient office is carefully optimized to not waste employee or manager time, and that means making sure that it’s free from old, outdated tech. As so many office comedies have made clear, the number one offender is the office printer. Those lumbering, creaking behemoths are as slow as they look, and can hold your office back with errors and jams. But, the worst time sink is the one you barely notice — the one that steals productivity time even when the printer is working properly.
Slow print times can be a killer, especially for big print jobs. The HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M477 office printer was made to attack exactly that problem, and HP has found some really innovative ways to get around it. Interestingly enough, the main solution isn’t mechanical — it’s in the toner. The M477 comes with HP’s own toner cartridges with JetIntelligence. This new kind of toner melts at lower temperatures, speeding up the time it takes the printer to go from sleep to print. A little extra time to convert into money, to be sure, but the M477 saves money directly, too — it uses less energy to operate and uses larger toner cartridges.
Any modern office printer needs to be well-connected, and the M477 is no exception. As expected, there’s a USB port you can use to print files directly from an external hard drive. Using small-scale apps on the printer’s 4.3″ touchscreen, Word and PowerPoint files can be previewed before printing, as well. But, it’s 2016, and connectivity really needs to mean wireless functionality. The M477 has Wi-Fi and works with HP ePrint, and most of the popular wireless and cloud printing services out there. There’s even a model with NFC connectivity, so you can simply tap a smartphone with a file open to start printing. If Wi-Fi in the office is a bit spotty, there’s a Gigabit ethernet port to get a more stable wired connection.
The M477 can use that connectivity in a few other ways, too. When using the scanner with those preloaded business apps (yep, apps on your printer), it’s possible to scan a document directly to email, an app, an external hard drive, or a cloud storage service. There’s also a lot to love here for management and the IT staff — the printer comes with software that allows for management of printer jobs, including LDAP authentication to ensure that the printer is only being used for business purposes. All of this can be controlled from HP Web Jetadmin, a control app for the IT staff.
The HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M477 is smarter, faster, and easier to use for employees, managers, and IT staffs alike. Everyone’s happier, the office becomes more efficient, and no one has to sacrifice precious moments of their lives to dealing with a slow, chugging printer — one of the most unpleasant experiences of modern life. The HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M477fnw is available for $429 and can print, scan, copy, and fax. For the modern office, there’s no reason to wait any longer.Find out more about HP’s Laser Printers
