Hit the Road with Rock Band 2’s Portable Drum Kit

September 18, 2008

rockband-300x224 Hit the Road with Rock Band 2s Portable Drum KitNow that Rock Band 2 is out, that means its time to reunite the band. The best way to enjoy the game is to have all your bandmates in one place but what that means is some may have to lug their own gear. Well if you are the band’s drummer, it would have been tougher for you to carry your drum kit around but not anymore. Available for pre-order at ebgames. There is the X-Box 360 Rock Band Portable Drum Kit.
The portable drum kit is basically the drums without the stand. The drumheads can be placed on any flat surface to pound away on. There is also a kick drum foot pedal as well as noise reduced drum sticks. You won’t take up any space at your friends house and you can easily pack this baby up and leave when your done jamming. $59.99 is a small price to pay to save your back from schlepping heaving equipment.

Exclusively at Target U.B. Funkey Flash Drive & Speakers

September 17, 2008

funkeyusb-300x225 Exclusively at Target U.B. Funkey Flash Drive & Speakers
We here at Chip Chick are big fans of U.B. Funkeys so when we stumbled on these items while browsing Target on-line we were surprised to find U.B. Funkeys looking a bit different than we are used to. Exclusively at Target, the Emerson Funkeys USB Flash Drive looks like the original Funkey from the 1st series that was released a year ago, but in this version its head can be removed to reveal a flash drive with USB connector. Sadly there are no details on how much capacity this thing holds. However it will retail for $19.99. Another U.B. Funkey similar device that caught our eye was the Emerson Funkeys Computer Speakers. This too replicates a U.B. funkey from the 1st series release and retails for $19.99. As much as we love our Funkeys and would want them all over our home I smell a lawsuit…

Update: It turns out these cute little guys are totally legit. They will be available this fall through a partnership between Mattel and Emerson Electronics. The USB drive will be available in a 1GB capacity. Check out the new images below.

September 10, 2008

legoskateboard1-300x225 The Lego Skateboard, Now All You Are Missing is Lego Knee PadsMy love of legos has never waned and obviously this guys hasn’t either. Nathan Sawayais already known for his halo lego masterpiece and in April he just finished the Lego Skateboard, right down to the skull and crossbones on the underside. There may be wheels on this skateboard but I don’t suggest you take it for a spin otherwise you might be in for a bumpy ride. While you are carousing his site, you may want to vote for his next project. At least for this contest, whatever choice wins will be awesome in the end.

Smile, You Are On the Star Trek TOS Science Tricorder

July 25, 2008

tricorder-300x225 Smile, You Are On the Star Trek TOS Science Tricorder
In honor of the X-files 2 movie this weekend lets reflect on another sci-fi TV show that transitioned to movies and still remains a classic. So like any true trekkie who still collects anything related to the show from the 60’s through the 90’s, what better addition to your TOS Communicator than the TOS Science Tricorder from Diamond Select Toys. For non Trekkies wondering, the Tricorder was considered the iPhone of that show with its portable screen and ability to take readings and make noises and flash. For $40 bucks you can pretend you are still every bit the scientist as Mr. Spock.

Hasbro Holiday Lineup for 2008: Life-Like Dogs, Dinosaurs, and more

July 11, 2008

furreal-300x225 Hasbro Holiday Lineup for 2008: Life-Like Dogs, Dinosaurs, and moreI was giddy with delight yesterday at Digital Life when I got a chance to sneak a peek at the latest holiday line-up from Hasbro. iPhones and GPS systems aside, I think this is was downright the best thing at the exhibit yesterday.

Kota the Triceratops:
The size of this thing in person is as lifelike to what I assume the real one was. In comparison to size with Pleo, Kota’s head is about the size Pleo’s entire body. Utilizing animatronics, this life size baby dino moves and makes noises by the simple touch of your child. He is even big enough for your 3 year old to hop on board and ride as you lead him/her around with the hidden handle in Kota’s head.
Available sometime in Fall, Kota will be a little costly at $300 but I think well worth the Jurassic park experience in your home. (Source: Chip Chicklets) [Read more]

Ugobe Pleo Review

June 20, 2008

pleo-300x225 Ugobe Pleo ReviewWhen the Pleo was released back in December of 07′ I was curious to see if this robotic dinosaur lived up to all the hype. Was is it truly intuitive with humans and could it somehow become another member of your family? While originally marketed with kids in mind, Pleo became the pet for adults as well. We got a chance to spend some time with Pleo by Ugobe and see if in fact it did bring a little bit of Jurassic Park into our home.

Fooze Ball for the 21st Century

April 9, 2008

fooz11 Fooze Ball for the 21st CenturyIf you just happen to be passing through Milan, Italy, next week you may want to check out the Milan design week which will be featuring “11” - A design reflecting the love of Football (soccer to us in America). It was created by GRO design and TIM model makers and is a totally unique modern approach to the standard fooze ball table. From the outside to the inside, the concept and design is outstanding and brought about in great detail. “We were interested in creating atmosphere through form, colour, material and subtle use of light, bringing a heightened sense of drama and excitement to the game. The table’s flowing lines express the dynamic aspect of football, while reducing unnecessary detail to allow the raw energy of the game to come to the fore.” Even the player figures are special.
