Power Your Laptop from the Sun with the Sherpa 50 Recharger

Goal Zero has been turning out solar powered devices for a while now, with their latest offering giving your laptop or mobile device a power boost in the great outdoors.

The Sherpa 50 Recharger is an external battery recharged by sunlight. Five hours of charging in the sunlight will completely recharge the Sherpa 50, which in turn will provide two extra hours of laptop use or 15 hours of tablet use. On days when the sun isn’t shining, you can plug the Sherpa 50 into a standard outlet, in which case it will charge up in two hours.

For charging, the Sherpa 50 has DC and USB ports. If you need AC power, you’ll need to buy a separate AC inverter. For laptops, you can also opt to grab one of Goal Zero’s Laptop Charging Kits, which allow for direct charging of laptops without need for your regular AC adapter and cord. Those Laptop Charging Kits are $16 each.

Of course, the Sherpa 50 wouldn’t be much good on a trip outside if it wasn’t portable. Fortunately, it is – you can fit it into a backpack, and it weighs less than a water bottle. You can buy a Sherpa 50 Recharger from Goal Zero now for about $400.
