And just when you thought you had had your fill of super hero movies, don’t worry there is another one in the works. Though there was some question of the timeline, Henry Cavill’s manager has just confirmed that a Man of Steel sequel is already in the works and Cavill is getting back into Superman shape. In a new Newsweek profile Danny Garcia, Cavill’s manager, discusses her star client and how she is trying to turn him into the next Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. She said, “Henry has a big appetite. We’ve been in a five-month period of time where he’s re-strategizing, acquiring property [for his production company Promethean], he’s filming [Justice League] now, he’s in development for the Superman standalone… he’s beginning to expand that world. It’s beautifully teed up. In a year from now, or two years from now, he’s going to be a force globally.”
Basically this means we are definitely getting another Superman film with no pesky Batman dude to deal with, just Cavill in all his glory. In April Man of Steel director Zak Snyder said he definitely wanted to make a sequel. “I think if we could get a good script it would be great to have a standalone Superman movie. I think that would be fun to do. Part of the reason we haven’t announced the standalone Superman movie was to support some of the events of (Batman v Superman).”
But don’t expect this to happen tomorrow as there is another Justice League film in the works, plus an umpteenth Batman solo film to be made. The film isn’t even officially on Warner Bros. schedule yet, but this doesn’t mean it isn’t in active development.
