It’s been a bumpy ride, but for the most part, tech has gotten less expensive over time. It’s easy to find PCs for under $1,000, 4K TVs can already be found in the low hundreds, and there are countless headphones available for under $50. That’s usually how it goes — tech gets cheaper to produce, then cheaper to buy!
Well, then there’s the other side. There’s always been that wild word of ultra-luxury gadgets, and even though we recently lost the world’s foremost maker of totally blinged out non-smart phones, the luxury game is still going strong. And, here’s a familiar name getting involved: Tag Heuer. Tag Heuer introduced their Tag Heuer Connected smartwatch last year, a customizable watch that could be outfitted with all sorts of precious metals — one configuration ran $6,750!
This year, that’s chump change. Behold the TAG Heuer Connected Modular 45 Full Diamonds, a $197,000 smartwatch. From a technical standpoint, it’s not that much different from last year’s Android Wear smartwatch. From a diamonds standpoint, there are 589 differences. Scattered across the watch case, lugs, and metal band are 589 diamonds (23.35 carats!) sparkling out from the 18-karat polished white gold that makes up the case and band.
That’s a lot. But! If you still have some money leftover, that’s far from the only gadget you can throw that much money at. Here are a few others!
