I’m kind of sick of other women taking a look at me and thinking I tripped and fell into appearing like I have it all. Success doesn’t happen overnight, and success sure doesn’t come easy.
It’s no accident being the successful woman that has it all. The good news is it’s not hard if you’re willing to work hard, and here are 5 things you can do to get there.
You Need To Define Success
Newsflash, no one but you gets to define success. Before I launched my own business, success to me was a six figure salary, an important job title, and working for name brand companies.
I felt successful by all means at the time, and this is a version of success that the majority of society aligns with. When I left the corporate world to start out on my own, success to me became getting to do what I want with my time, working my own hours and maintaining a flexible schedule, and waking up every day working on something that makes me happy while yes, still making money.
My point here is that you need to define success. It doesn’t have to be what everyone else perceives success to be, and in fact it shouldn’t. Your version of success can also change as you grow or do other things!
Take a good hard look at yourself and figure out what success is to you and what will make you happy. Don’t spend your life chasing the success everyone else wants if it’s not the one you want too.
You Need To Own It
You need to own it; you need to take responsibility for your own actions. Good, bad, ugly, perfect, you need to step up to the plate and own what you did.
Nobody gets ahead by blaming everyone around them. If something isn’t working, fix it. If you make a mistake, own up to it.
You Need To Be The Investor
You get to be the investor here, and you need to choose where you are investing your time, energy, money, and attention. In order to have it all, you can’t just be blindly moving and operating on autopilot.
You have to consciously invest in everything you do because it will either make you happy, make you successful, or make you fulfilled. If it doesn’t, don’t do it. Don’t invest.
You Need To Own Your Boundaries
People can be the absolute worst, and there is no shortage of people out there that will take advantage of you or waste your time with negativity. You need to own your boundaries and not let this happen.
Don’t let anyone get in your way and don’t be afraid to put your foot down and enforce the boundaries you know you need.
And yes, you can set them in a kind and respectful way, so I don’t want to hear it makes you a terrible or nasty person for standing up for yourself.
You Need To Prioritize
I’m sure you’re not surprised you need to prioritize. Don’t pack your schedule and waste your time on things you feel obligated to do.
Only spend your time on things that directly contribute to obtaining your goals. That should be your new priority.
