A 26-year-old woman is currently married to her husband, who is 39, and together they have a child who is a little over 1-year-old.

She and her husband met while they were in college, and they didn’t go on too many dates before things cooled off.

They ended up reconnecting years after college, and then they got tied the knot. In those years that they were not together, though, her husband experienced something at work that was so distressing that he ended up developing a very severe paranoid disorder.

Although her husband was never handed a concrete answer for this, he has been diagnosed with many things, including delusional disorder, schizophrenia, and depression with psychotic episodes.

Her husband has bounced in and out of receiving treatment as the years went on, but he frequently has breakdowns when he goes off the medication that he has been prescribed.

“He thinks he doesn’t need them, and he doesn’t like being on them since they are strong,” she explained.

“His breakdowns involve him quitting his job, hallucinating and slurring his words, and not being able to walk. I have to help with simple tasks like putting on socks, doing all the chores, using the same utensils as him for fear they are “poisoned,” eating the same bites of food as him, using the same products as him, etc. it is exhausting.”

“The last time it happened, I was pregnant, and it was very difficult. He has breakdowns maybe 1-1.5 years apart. Each time I think things are resolved and then they fall apart.”

A month ago, her husband got really bad again, but this time he was so nasty to her that she put her foot down.

He wanted to quit his job then, and he wanted to lay around their apartment every day without seeking any kind of treatment and expecting her and their child to go live with her parents for a bit.

She wasn’t on board with this at all, so she gave her husband two options; he could go to a hospital to get help, or he could go to the country his family lives in to get help.

She let him know that she could no longer be his caretaker on top of being a mom to their child and working full-time at her job.

“He immediately booked a flight home, quit his job (told them we were divorcing), and left us,” she said.

“I honestly thought he was going to seek medical treatment. I didn’t think him leaving was the right option, but I also knew I couldn’t take care of him again.”

Right after her husband’s plane touched down in his country, he was sending her text messages already stating that he missed her.

He is currently pleading with her to let him come back to their place, and he is also swearing this was all one big misunderstanding since she was the one who said that he needed to leave their place.

Her husband’s loved ones all believe that he’s not the one at fault here, so that’s weighing on her.

Anyway, today she discovered her husband had emailed his ex’s steamy photos to himself, even though he always told her they never even existed.

She knew this was a lie all along because she happened across the photos one time when she was on his computer.

“I actually also found out I’m pregnant again right after he left (a surprise),” she continued. “I do believe everyone deserves a second chance. I also acknowledge he wanted more support this time than was given.”

“I initially told him we need to be separated, and if he stabilizes, seeks treatment, and stays on his meds, then eventually we can reunite. He told me I would need to decide in 1-2 months because he needs a companion for his mental health and would want to date elsewhere if I didn’t.”

“But after seeing the nudes, I’m at my wit’s end…”

She’s left wondering if she’s terrible for not wanting to be his caregiver or deal with him anymore.

If you were her, would you take him back?
