This thirty-five-year-old woman has been married to her husband for about six months now. And even though this period is supposed to be known as the “honeymoon stage,” she has been getting the total opposite experience.

For context, her husband has two children from two separate mothers– who are uninvolved in their care. So, the kids, who are ten and seven years old, have been living with her and her husband full-time.

Having the kids at home is not the real problem, though. Instead, it’s her husband’s lack of, well, parenting.

First of all, she works a very demanding job from home that comes with really long shifts. And for some reason, her husband believes that just because she works from home, she is able to just hit the pause button and do whatever he needs at a moment’s notice.

Obviously, though, that is just not true. Yet, her husband continues to ask her to do things for the kids every single time she is working.

“I tell him I am unavailable during those hours and that the kids are his responsibility until I am done,” she recalled.

Plus, her husband only works two days a week– so he seemingly should be able to take over during those hours.

Just yesterday, though, her husband disregarded her work boundary again. And this time, it totally sent her over the edge.

It all began after her husband told her that he wanted to attend a college friend’s engagement dinner. Then, he asked if she would be able to “take time off of work” to cook the children’s dinner.

She was forced to tell her husband “absolutely not” and suggested that her husband just buy the kids some takeout. Or else, he would have to cook them dinner himself.

However, her husband claimed that takeout was “off the table” because he did not want the kids to eat fast food. Then, he refused to cook them a homemade meal himself because he was running late.

After some more discussion, though, her husband eventually relented and said he would make time to cook before the party.

So, she thought everything was all good and taken care of. Well, that was about two hours later when the kids went running into the room and claimed that they were hungry.

She was caught off guard and asked the kids if her husband had made them dinner like he said he would. But then, she found out that her husband had told the kids to go and ask her to cook them dinner at exactly 7:00 p.m. How shady.

“I was so pissed off to find myself in this situation,” she said. Totally understandable.

Anyway, she ended up being forced to take a few minutes out of a work meeting to order takeout from a nearby restaurant. And afterward, she fed the kids, had them watch some TV, and then finally put them to bed.

Her husband did not get home until about 11:00 p.m. However, the most surprising part is that after he got in, he actually freaked out on her!

Apparently, he found out that she had never cooked dinner and just ordered takeout instead. So, he berated her for not only feeding the kids takeout but also for not following through on something he was “counting on her to do.”

That’s pretty rich coming from him, right?

She thought so, too, and ended up telling her husband off for trying to trick her into cooking for them, even though he knew that she was totally tied up at work. Still, though, her husband just could not see the error of his ways.

In fact, he actually just ranted about how she cares about work more than her stepchildren. Then, he even called her selfish before storming upstairs.

And ever since yesterday, her husband has been sulking and refusing to talk to her while she has been feeling totally dumbfounded.

Her husband believes that she needs to get her priorities in order. But, she thinks that her priorities are in order and that her husband just does not respect her job.

So, she is now wondering if ordering takeout in a pinch truly makes her a villain or if her husband is just really taking advantage of her.

Do you think her husband just does not understand work-from-home arrangements or is he just blatantly disregarding her needs? Either way, is he being disrespectful? How would you work to reconcile this situation, so it does not happen again?
