This thirty-five-year-old woman is infertile but has always wanted to have children. So, when she was with her ex-husband, they tried everything they could to have a baby. Unfortunately, though, it was never able to happen for her, and her ex actually divorced her over it.

Her ex went on to meet and marry a younger woman who was able to give him children. And, from what she has heard, her ex is now expecting his second child– which is honestly heartbreaking.

“It hurts like hell seeing someone else have what I couldn’t,” she said.

“And I get frustrated with myself sometimes and with my family for blaming me for basically everything.”

So, when she is down, she turns to her friends for support– more specifically, her friend Alessia, who is also in the same “infertility boat.”

Right now, though, Alessia and her husband are currently trying in-vitro fertilization (IVF) in hopes of conceiving.

And after she attempted to help Alessia out with the process, her friend basically stabbed her in the back.

It all began last week when Alessia asked for her financial help in paying for the next IVF cycle.

Alessia needed twelve thousand dollars– which is a considerable amount of change. Despite that, though, she generously agreed.

“I agreed to write her a check for twelve thousand dollars since I really wanted to help her, and the money came with no strings attached. I wrote the check and gave it to her last week, and she was very appreciative of it,” she explained.

But then, the very next day, after lending Alessia a huge helping hand, she received a text message from their mutual friend, Carol. The text included a screenshot of Carol’s conversation with Alessia and showed Alessia totally badmouthing her.

Apparently, Alessia wrote about how she hoped this next IVF cycle would work and claimed it was because “she did not want to end up divorced and having her husband go marry someone younger and have a baby with them and another one on the way while she is alone and without a family at thirty-five.”

So, obviously, she was shell-shocked and beyond hurt. I mean, from the details provided in the text, she knew that Alessia was talking about her behind her back.

Instead of confronting Alessia about the text and giving her any more attention, though, she just decided to contact her bank. Then, she canceled the twelve thousand dollar check for Alessia’s IVF.

Later that same evening, though, she then received a furious call from Alessia asking about the check. And when she explained why she canceled the funds, Alessia completely freaked out.

Alessia began claiming that she did not mean the text “that way” and that it was somehow an “inside joke” between “desperate infertile women.”

Then, Alessia and her husband even showed up at her house the next day, begging for another check.

She did not want to hear it, though, and continued refusing to hand over the money. So, an argument ensued, and Alessia’s husband got involved.

Apparently, he began accusing her of being unsupportive of Alessia; meanwhile, he claimed that Alessia had been nothing but supportive of her in the past. And afterward, Alessia and her husband left.

But, ever since that argument, she has refused to speak to Alessia. Alessia’s husband keeps calling and accusing Carol of being a “toxic snake.” At the same time, some of her friends also believe that she is being oversensitive and that she should give Alessia the money.

Carol, on the other hand, believes that everyone who is not supporting her decision to take the money back can go to hell.

Anyway, all of these conflicting perspectives on the situation have left her feeling totally confused and guilty.

“I feel so bad about it. What I have done might just damage our fifteen years of friendship,” she reflected.

So now, she has been left wondering whether Alessia’s mocking comments warranted the consequence of not getting IVF or if she is being a jerk by withholding the money.

Why do you think Alessia would say that, knowing what it is like being infertile? Do you think she had good reason to take back the money or not? What would you do in this situation?
