Apparently, his brother and sister-in-law named Jane, who is around twenty-eight, were also there. And his mom decided to give both Jane as well as her daughter, who is five, some snow globes.
His girlfriend Ellie was not given the same treatment, though, and his mom claimed that she just did not know Ellie well enough to invite her to participate. He just could not believe his mom’s reasoning, though.
“I said being my partner should be enough, and my mom should have just included the kids,” he recalled.
Not to mention, he was not the only person who was offended by his mom’s decision– because Ellie and her children saw what happened, too. So, his girlfriend was also pretty hurt by the exclusion of both herself and her kids.
Then, after realizing that, he got even more pissed off and decided to kind of call his mom out. More specifically, he pointed out how his mom purchases snowglobes for his brother, Jane, and Jane’s daughter.
However, his “brother” is not really his mom’s son– they are actually half-brothers. So, by his logic, his half-brother should not be included, either.
“And if that’s the case, then she is excluding Ellie for no reason,” he said.
Of course, though, his mom was not happy to have all of this drama dragged up during their Christmas party. According to him, she first got pretty defensive before becoming downright angry.
In turn, he, his girlfriend, and her two children ended up just leaving the celebration early. Even now, over a week later, though, he is still pretty torn up about what happened.
Apparently, he just does not think his mom had a right to exclude his partner and the kids. After all, he claims that snowglobes are very inexpensive.
So, his mom could have just picked up three more to show Ellie and her kids that they are welcomed and accepted.
