He Bought His Girlfriend Six Dozen Roses On Valentine’s Day And Got Accused Of Making His Girlfriend’s Sisters’ Husbands Look Bad Because They Got Their Wives Basically Nothing

This man currently has a girlfriend, as well as a high-paying job that usually requires him to drop everything in his life and travel at a moment’s notice.
“It is infuriating at times, but I get paid well, so I have learned to live with it,” he said.
Due to the nature of his job, though, he has had to miss some important family events.
This happened once early on in his relationship with his girlfriend when he was forced to leave without any notice. So, in an effort to make up for his absence, he decided to send his girlfriend three dozen roses.
According to him, she loves flowers more than absolutely anything. In fact, he recognizes that most girls love flowers but is confident that his girlfriend still loves blooms more.
On multiple occasions, she has even forced him to stop the car while they were driving just to take pictures of pretty flowers on the side of the road.
So, he thought that the three dozen roses would be a really nice gesture. And apparently, his girlfriend agreed.
She even joked around at the time and told him that he had “set the bar”– meaning that whenever he had to let her down, he better send three dozen roses along, too.
Anyway, they have been happily dating for three years since then. And whenever he was apart from his girlfriend during that time, he would always have three dozen roses delivered to her.

“It’s a tradition, and we both love it,” he noted.
Just a couple of weeks ago, though, his girlfriend received some bad news about one of her family member’s health. So, she was forced to head back to her hometown with her two sisters and their husbands, and he was unable to join her.
Eventually, Valentine’s Day rolled around, too. And even though it was not his fault that they didn’t get to spend the holiday together, he still wanted to surprise his girlfriend anyway.
So, he ordered her three dozen roses, candy, and a stuffed animal. But then, on February 14, tragedy struck.
Apparently, he received a FedEx notification that his shipment had been delayed. And honestly, he started to panic, thinking that his girlfriend would not get anything on Valentine’s Day.
So, he ended up calling around to local florists in his girlfriend’s hometown and found one who was able to deliver a new order.
And at that point, he purchased another gift package containing three dozen roses and sent them to his girlfriend’s house.
Well, it turned out that FedEx was able to deliver the original gift on time. So, his girlfriend ended up receiving six dozen roses, two boxes of chocolate, two cards, and a teddy bear.
She found the whole thing amusing and joked about how he had raised the bar yet again– claiming that anytime they are apart, she now expects six dozen roses.
“All jokes aside, though, I could tell she really appreciated the trouble I went through,” he recalled.
The very next day, though, his girlfriend’s sisters’ husbands reached out to him– and they were absolutely furious.
Apparently, they accused him of making them look horrible– since one husband only purchased a left-over bouquet with tulips that were half-dead, and the other husband didn’t buy anything at all for Valentine’s Day.
He is not sure why the husbands did that and wonders whether they were both going to use the familial commotion as an excuse to forego Valentine’s Day.
Either way, though, his girlfriend wound up sharing some of her roses with her sisters. But, it was still pretty obvious the blooms came from him– and not the other husbands.
Now, after hearing from the husbands, his first instinct was to pat himself on the back. Afterward, though, his girlfriend’s mother and father also reached out to him and actually claimed that he should apologize.
Apparently, they said they appreciated him always making romantic gestures to their daughter.
However, they pointed out how he could afford to do that, and the other husbands could not.
His girlfriend’s parents also admitted to realizing “where things are going” and believe they will all be family soon.
So, they thought it would be a good idea if he made peace with his girlfriend’s brothers-in-law before he married into the family.
Now, he claims that he never intended to hurt his girlfriend’s sisters’ relationships or upset their husbands.
At the same time, though, he revealed how he never expected the husbands to be such bad partners that they did not even think to get their wives flowers for Valentine’s Day.
“But, maybe I’m wrong for holding them to the standard I have set for my own relationship,” he vented.
So now, he has been left wondering whether sending his girlfriend too many flowers on Valentine’s Day– and accidentally making her sisters’ husbands look bad– makes him a jerk or not.
Do you think he is entitled to treat his girlfriend to however many roses he wants? Why do you think the husbands failed to get their wives anything on Valentine’s Day? Is it his responsibility to make them look “good?” If you were in his shoes, how would you handle this situation?
