He Found Out His 23-Year-Old Son Lied About Being Gifted An Xbox From His Girlfriend And Was Actually Just Refusing To Give It Back, So He Went Off On His Son, Returned The Xbox, And Now His Son Is Furious
This man has a son named Elijah, who is 23-years-old and lives at home– which is partly due to a physical disability.
While living at home, Elijah has been taking online classes in order to get a business degree. At the same time, his son also has a girlfriend named Tanya, who is 24 and also in college. The pair have been together for two years.
Anyway, a few months ago, Tonya gifted Elijah a brand new Xbox series X out of the blue. And honestly, he found that to be a bit odd.
Still, in anticipation of Tonya’s birthday, he decided to give Elijah $200. That way, his son could put it toward a good gift for Tonya since she gave him such an expensive surprise.
A few weeks later, though, his son’s girlfriend stopped coming over abruptly. But, since Elijah and Tonya are adults, he and his wife decided not to press his son about what happened in their relationship.
Then, not long afterward, Tonya ended up calling his wife and claiming that Elijah was refusing to return the Xbox.
Now, his wife was really confused, so Tonya clarified the situation and revealed that the game console had never been a gift. Moreover, she said they had never broken up.
Instead, Tonya and Elijah had gotten into a fight, and she had asked for her Xbox back. However, Tonya claimed that his son was refusing to hand it over.
This pushed him and his wife to finally confront their son about the situation. Still, though, Elijah reportedly reassured them that the Xbox was “absolutely a gift” since it was wrapped.

By this point, he believed that the pair just needed to figure everything out on their own. But he kept getting dragged into the drama.
Just last weekend, Tonya actually went over to his house and approached him while he was in the garage. Now, his wife and son were not home at that point, but Tonya wanted to talk.
During their conversation, she explained everything that had happened and even showed him her text history with Elijah.
Basically, he found out that one of Tonya’s roommates had stolen from her. Then, two days later, she purchased an Xbox and had it delivered to her place. But, since she was afraid the new game console would get stolen, she asked his son to hold onto it until she found a new place to live.
“I haven’t even opened it yet; it just sucks I’m living with a thief. When I come over, let’s set it up so at least you can use it,” one of the texts reportedly read verbatim.
He also realized that Elijah had acknowledged the entire situation. Plus, aside from the Xbox situation, he learned how his son had been treating Tonya really badly.
“The more I read, the more livid I became. The things my son said to her, speaking to her in such an extremely condescending manner. I was mortified,” he revealed.
“This is not the son I raised.”
So, he ultimately took Tonya into his son’s room and packed up the Xbox for her. During that time, he was in total shock about his son and started asking more questions about their relationship.
He found out that the fight between Elijah and Tonya actually started because his son had forgotten her birthday. Then, after she confronted him days later, he had the nerve to toss her a wrinkled shirt that still had a $10 price tag on it.
This disgusted him– especially after how much Tonya did for his son’s birthday. In fact, Tonya went over to his house, helped his wife decorate, and threw a whole party for Elijah.
So, once his wife and son arrived back home a few hours later, he ended up going off on his son.
“It’s not like I can discipline him anymore, but I damn sure wanted him to feel shame and guilt for his appalling behavior,” he vented.
Elijah was not receptive, though, and just kept claiming that he did not understand the situation. His son also pointed out how Tonya only got to tell her side of the story. However, once he informed his son that the Xbox was gone, Elijah’s attitude completely switched. According to him, the 23-year-old started throwing a tantrum as if he were 5-years-old.
Elijah even called him a few choice names, too, and told him that he had no business butting into their personal relationship.
Perhaps shockingly, his wife also agreed with their son. She even asked him, “What happened to them figuring things out on their own?”
Three days after that fight, Elijah ultimately put a key lock on his bedroom door. And now, with his son and wife still mad at him, he has been left wondering whether getting involved in Elijah and Tonya’s relationship problems makes him a jerk or not.
