When this 41-year-old man was younger, he had his first child named Amanda, who is now 24-years-old, with his ex, Betty.

At the time, he had actually planned to marry Betty. Unfortunately, though, their relationship just did not work out.

So, his ex wound up moving away and taking his daughter, Amanda, with her. Ever since then, Betty has had primary custody of their daughter, and he has never gotten to spend as much time as he wanted to with her.

“It got better when Amanda was in her teens,” he recalled.

“But I could tell that she always resented the fact that I wasn’t around like all the other dads at her school.”

Then, after he married his current wife, Tiffany, who is 35, things only got worse. At that point, he started bringing Tiffany around Amanda– the only woman he ever really introduced to his daughter.

But his daughter just did not like that he was not giving her his full attention.

So, he reportedly did everything he could to show and reassure Amanda that he really loved her. He also told his daughter that he would never marry anyone who made him pick.

Still, though, that apparently did not help Amanda’s feelings toward Tiffany, and she actually tried to stage a breakup in his relationship!

After that, he finally thought it was time to try out family therapy– even though Betty did not make that effort easy.

For a while, he detailed how Tiffany was also very understanding and patient with the situation with Amanda, too. Once they got married, though, that started to change also.

Apparently, Tiffany started to speak up more and call him out when he would ditch their plans in favor of his daughter.

His wife also pointed out how yes, in emergencies, she expected him to drop everything and choose his daughter.

However, Tiffany admitted how she did not like that he would just cancel their plans at the last minute to run off and hang out with Amanda and Betty. His wife also claimed that if things did not change, then she would rather just get a marriage annulment.

So, he was forced to confront his daughter about this.

“After numerous talks, I began putting my foot down more with Amanda, and she would either accuse me of abandoning her or just give me the silent treatment,” he explained.

“This included missing therapy appointments.”

Through a lot of hard work, though, he was eventually able to strike a good balance between his wife, Tiffany, and his daughter, Amanda. He thought everything was going great, too.

Apparently, it was agreed that anything he had scheduled to do with Amanda would come before anything Tiffany wanted to do during the same time period and vice versa.

And this ultimately helped his relationship with both women. So, by the time Amanda got engaged, he was thrilled that his daughter asked him to walk her down the aisle. He even saved the date of her wedding and everything.

Just a few weeks after he confirmed his attendance at the ceremony, though, Tiffany found out that she was pregnant. Plus, their estimated due date was actually the exact same month as his daughter’s wedding.

This honestly sent him into a panic, and he admitted how it took him a while to gain the courage to tell Amanda about the pregnancy. After he finally came clean, though, the first thing his daughter did was tell him that she was not going to change the wedding date.

Amanda also reportedly reminded him about how he had agreed to go to the wedding before finding out that his wife was pregnant.

“And Amanda’s wedding was about a three-hour drive from where I lived, so if Tiffany went into labor while I was at the wedding, it would take a while for me to get there,” he revealed.

So, for weeks, he agonized about his decision to attend the wedding and crossed his fingers that the baby would not arrive on the same date.

Thankfully, his wife was understanding of this stressful situation, too– even though his mother-in-law and sisters-in-law reportedly took turns “chewing him out” over it.

Then, on the day of his daughter’s wedding, everything went downhill. Just before the ceremony, he received a text from Tiffany and found out she had gone into labor early. His wife also told him to get back home as soon as possible.

He received that text just 30 minutes before he was supposed to walk his daughter down the aisle, though. So, he confided in his ex, Betty, about the situation, and she told him that if he left, then Amanda would go no contact with him.

At that point, he considered how his wife’s labor could take hours. And he ultimately decided to take the risk of staying at the ceremony just long enough before leaving and traveling as fast as he could in order to meet Tiffany for the birth.

While he was driving back home, though, there was a car accident that wound up slowing down traffic. So, by the time he arrived at the hospital, his second daughter Kelly had already been born.

He ended up profusely apologizing to his wife, but Tiffany just would not hear any of it. On top of that, he started receiving texts from multiple people who told him that Amanda was also furious with him for leaving the wedding.

So now, ever since he disappointed both his wife and his daughter, he has been left wondering how to move forward.

Does it sound like he tried his best to be there for both his daughter and his wife? Should he have chosen one over the other? What would you have done if you were in his shoes? How can he reconcile this situation?
