“She talks to everyone a lot more than I do, which is not abnormal because it’s mainly the women here who meet up with themselves.”
“Yesterday, my neighbor asked a question about which program my son came here through. I was very confused, asked for clarification, and told him he was my son. It turns out my wife told his wife and many others that my son was not my son but a scholarship kid.”
As soon as he learned that his wife was going around town lying about his son to keep up appearances, he confronted her.
His wife simply excused her behavior by saying she wasn’t quite sure how to properly explain his son to their neighbors, and she was afraid about what people would think of them if they learned about him having a secret son.
He is so upset that his wife chose to do this instead of telling the truth. His wife has no problem with his son when they’re in their home behind closed doors, but when they go outside and are in front of other people, she’s terrified of judgment.
His son overheard his conversation with his wife, and his son later came to him to say it doesn’t matter to him that his wife is lying about who he is.
His son was also upset to be the reason why he and his wife were arguing, so he’s left wondering if he should stick to his son’s feelings and stop pushing the issue with his wife or if he should speak to his wife again to get her to tell everyone the truth.
