As their son has gotten older, she and her husband tried talking with her mother-in-law about boundaries. But whenever they try to get through to her, she cries and guilt-trips them.
She knows her son loves his grandmother, but she worries about how her behavior will affect their family moving forward, especially with baby #2 on the way.
Not long ago, she caught her mother-in-law telling her son that he would always be her “favorite” and that he won’t have to share his grandmother with his sibling. She thinks her mother-in-law’s behavior is horrible and absurd.

What should she do to set better boundaries with her mother-in-law while still letting her be in her son’s life?
