She recently got married, so she decided to change her middle name from Marie to Summer during the process of changing her last name.
Her adoptive parents had admitted in the past that the middle name they had chosen for her did not have any sentimental meaning, so she thought that this change would be a positive way for her to further connect to her birth family.
Her biological mother was so emotional and touched when she found out about the name change and cried tears of joy! However, her adoptive parents were less than thrilled with this news. They claimed that she was trying to erase them, even though she kept the first name that they gave her.
“I did NOT change my name to be vindictive. I changed it to represent both families. I am not upset my name was originally changed. I get it. I’m just trying to form a connection to my birth family,” she added.
Do you think that her changing her middle name was disrespectful to her adoptive parents, or do you think that this was a meaningful way to honor and connect to her birth family?
