She’s Tired Of People Claiming That Looks Don’t Matter, And Believes They Matter More Than Anything Else If You’re “Ugly”

One woman recently took to Reddit to express her anger over one common phrase: “Looks don’t matter.”
According to her, looks are actually paramount and matter way more than anything else. Well, if you’re “ugly.”
“Discrimination against looks is something that transcends race, gender, and [orientation]. As humans, we are naturally drawn to more aesthetically pleasing faces that have more symmetry and harmony,” she explained.
“Even in the animal kingdom, the undesirable will die off faster than the rest.”
So, she claims that “pretty privilege” is 100% real and believes that ordinary people can still benefit from the phenomenon with proper confidence and stellar styling.
But, she claimed that no matter how confident or well-styled an “ugly person” is, they will always be seen and treated as just that– ugly.
That’s why she wholeheartedly knows that looks do matter and points toward a myriad of examples in society that prove her point.
If appearance did not matter, for instance, then the cosmetic surgery industry would not make billions off of people’s insecurities, and influencers would not rake in heaps of cash from “doing the bare minimum” behind the camera lens.
If looks didn’t matter, advertisers also would not seek out the most beautiful models to be the faces of their companies, and Hollywood actors who aren’t “model-level pretty” would not get pigeonholed into playing “ugly” roles.

Finally, if appearance seriously did not phase society members, then the most heinous individuals– such as Ted Bundy– would not get romanticized just for being attractive.
“And whenever there is a high-profile case of a person who goes missing, it’s always a good-looking white woman. Looks play a factor in which crime stories get shared with the world,” she added.
So, she thinks it’s no secret that attractive people are more favored in life– even in jobs– since she thinks companies want good-looking people to lead.
At the same time, “ugly” people are forced to deal with constantly being put down. For some reason, it is acceptable to tell these individuals that they may never find love or happiness.
It is also “okay” to joke about their appearance, deny them friendships on the basis of looks, and simply not want to be around them.
“Parents have the fear that their child may be ugly because they know the torment that ugly people go through. Ugly is synonymous with horrible,” she said.
She claims that being ugly is even more horrible if you are a woman since women’s worth tends to be based more on beauty than men’s worth.
That’s why she thinks more male celebrities in Hollywood are allowed to be less “conventionally attractive” than women.
Finally, she hates the fact that being “ugly” is often thought to be synonymous with being “fat.”
“If losing 80 pounds– which I know is not an easy feat– and changing your hair and clothes suddenly makes you attractive, I’m afraid you were never ugly, to begin with,” she opined.
“You can be fat and have a pretty face.”
On the other hand, she pointed out how thin women can still be “ugly” if they do not have stereotypical attractiveness markers– such as facial symmetry or good bone structure. She thinks that she falls into this category.
Anyway, she reasoned that all of these cards stacked against less attractive people are why they tend to become bitter, jealous, and resentful.
“And it won’t ever change. It’s innate to feel annoyance or even anger towards ugly people,” she vented.
Do you agree that looks are everything? Or do you think other things matter more?
