This woman and her husband, Tom, have been married for the last four years. They dated for a year and a half before their wedding.

Tom was previously engaged to Diana, with whom he shares a 6-year-old daughter named Evie. She has always been present and active in Evie’s life.

When Evie was 2-years-old, she stopped working to take care of Evie until she began kindergarten. This way, Evie didn’t have to go to daycare.

As Evie grew up, she became more involved in Evie’s extracurricular activities. She is currently a troop leader for the Girl Scout troop Evie’s in.

Plus, she was a soccer coach and a tee-ball coach for a year when Evie became passionate about sports.

Now, she has a part-time job, and she’s able to take off work to stay home when Evie is too sick to go to school or when there are school closures.

“Evie is like a daughter to me. Diana and I got along until Evie started to call me Mommy two years ago. I did not ask her to do this, and when Tom and I asked about it, she said she loves me and wants me to be her mommy, too,” she said.

In response to this situation, Diana wanted Evie to go to daycare for 10 to 12 hours a day. This way, Evie wouldn’t be at home with her all the time, therefore getting more emotionally attached.

Tom wasn’t thrilled about the idea, and he didn’t look into putting Evie in daycare.

Since he didn’t take action, Diana found a daycare that would allow Evie to attend every other week, so she enrolled Evie in this daycare right away.

Later, when Evie was staying with her mother, Diana didn’t allow her to talk on the phone with Evie before bed.

Prior to this, Diana would always call her because, according to Evie, she was the one who sang her favorite bedtime song the best.

Even though Diana was the one limiting the amount of time she was able to talk to and see Evie, Diana blamed her for the fact that Evie was sobbing in bed every night and not sleeping.

Over time, Diana didn’t allow her to speak with Evie at all when Evie was in her custody.

“Evie was a mess when Diana stopped letting her have any contact with me and barely let her talk to her dad on her weeks. She developed pretty severe separation anxiety from Tom and me and would only eat or sleep if we were holding her,” she explained.

Starting daycare was also obviously a difficult transition for Evie. Employees at the daycare were so concerned about Evie that an employee got in touch with Child Protective Services to report Diana.

She and Tom had a child psychologist evaluate Evie, and from there, they were able to receive primary custody of her.

Now, Diana has custody every other weekend. Despite the fact that Diana doesn’t have as much custody of Evie anymore, she and Tom still acknowledge that it’s important that Diana is involved in Evie’s life.

Several times a week, Evie and her mother FaceTime each other. In addition, whenever Evie says that she misses her mother, she and Tom arrange for Diana to meet with Evie to hang out at the park or get ice cream together.

Not long ago, Evie started learning ballet, and she had a recital last weekend. Before the recital, Diana ordered her not to attend.

Then, Diana warned that if she didn’t listen and showed up anyway, she would leave, meaning that Evie’s own mother wouldn’t be able to see her daughter’s ballet recital.

“Tom actually sided with her this time and told me to stay home and that he’d send me pictures. I still went because Evie wanted me to be there, and I was not going to lie to her and take the fall when she wants to know why I’m not there,” she shared.

Diana arrived at the recital early because she was a volunteer and helped apply hair and makeup. She did this so that Evie could see her there before she even went onstage.

When Diana was done backstage, she came out to sit down, seeing that she and Tom were in the audience.

Immediately, Diana ordered her to leave, adding that since Evie had already seen her helping with the hair and makeup backstage, she would be devastated if she found out that her mother hadn’t seen the recital.

In response, she told Diana that Evie would be hurt if she wasn’t there, claiming that Evie would be more negatively affected when she learned that she didn’t see the recital because Diana didn’t allow her to.

After this, Evie cursed her out and left before the recital even started. Once the recital was over, Evie asked why her mother hadn’t been in the audience, and she told Evie that Diana felt ill and had to go home.

At first, Evie seemed to accept this and didn’t act like she was too sad about it. She and Tom took Evie to a restaurant and purchased her a new toy to celebrate her first recital, and it seemed like she wasn’t thinking about her mother missing the performance.

This past weekend, Diana had custody of Evie. When Evie came back to her and Tom’s house, she told them that Diana had clarified that she hadn’t left the recital because she was ill. Diana told Evie that she made her leave. She and Tom explained to Evie what had happened, and Evie was incredibly hurt.

Do you think she was wrong to attend Evie’s ballet recital?
