When TikToker Bre (@bre.brief) was 21 years old, she went on a date with a 40-year-old man. Of course, at the time, she did not know he was that old. But he sent her one of the most ridiculous messages she had ever received in her life.
In 2012, Bre was 21 and living in Provo, Utah. She was a Mormon, and so was the guy she dated. His name was Joey. One day, she started getting a bunch of messages from him on social media, asking her out. She didn’t know who he was, so she didn’t respond.
Then, a mutual friend, Brad, told her that Joey wanted to take her out on a date. Bre was unsure because Joey seemed older, but Brad convinced her to go out with him.
So, Joey picked her up, and they drove to Salt Lake City to watch a basketball game.
On the drive there, he told her all about himself, but he never once asked her a single question about herself during the entire 30-minute car ride.
Bre sat in the passenger seat, calculating his age, and concluded that Joey was at least 37 years old. She decided that she would not be going out with him again.
Later, Brad asked her how the date went. Bre told him that she didn’t really like Joey and that he was way too old for her. She started talking with other mutual friends about Joey, and they said he had a tendency to date young girls. Together, they finally figured out that he was 39.
Bre also learned that Joey would specifically go to the library at a university and hit on freshmen there. He would tell them that he was 28 when he was really 39. Bre was completely disgusted by him.
Then, she received a message from him, flaunting all his accomplishments. Since he was a college athlete who played two sports and went to Harvard University, he felt that he was deserving of another chance from her.

She took three days to respond and ended up politely saying that he was too old to date a 21-year-old and that she would not go out with him again.
To this day, every time he sees her profile on a dating app, he will interact with it. Not only that, but he is still lying about his age, claiming that he is 35 to 37 when he must be about 53 by now.
“I love the guys on dating apps. ‘If I had listed my real age you wouldn’t have swiped on me.’ Correct. 100%,” one person commented on Bre’s video.
“Girl I JUST matched with him a couple months ago and I DIED when I found out he was in his 50’s. Yes he is saying he is 37!!!!” someone else exclaimed.
“When guys his age are only trying to date girls that much younger than them, it’s usually because women his own age want nothing to do with him,” a third person said.
