Lexus is really proud of its upcoming 2013 GS 350 Sport Sedan. So proud, in fact, that nothing short of a media spectacle will do when it comes to unveiling it to the world. And, if you’re going to go big, you might as well go all the way.Lexus will run an ad during Super Bowl XLVI on February 5th, announcing that their car will be available in dealerships across the country. Yet somehow, the Super Bowl wasn’t enough for Lexus. They’ve also announced that they will be the Official Automotive Marketing Partner of the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue (yes, all words start in capitals, as in that is an official title).
So, what about this car is worth all that publicity? It has a 3.5 liter, 306 horsepower V6 engine that can go from 0 to 60 mph in 5.7 seconds. A luxury interior and ambient LED lighting bring the style to match the engine’s substance. Lexus is also rolling out its new in-dash interface, called Lexus Enform. Enform syncs up with your smartphone, so you can listen to your music and handle calls hands-free. You can also use Bing on the dash for local searches, as well as Open Table, MovieTickets.com, Pandora, iHeartRadio, Facebook, and, of course, Yelp. You can also dictate text messages to Enform, which will send them from your phone (if Knight Rider comes on television today, it’s not even impressive anymore). It’ll also come standard with a 3-month trial subscription to SiriusXM Satellite Radio.
So, is all that worth the buzz? We’ll find out for sure next spring, when the Lexus GS 350 Sport Sedan rolls into dealerships across the country.
