Griffin Designer Series iPhone Case Review

Griffin’s Designer Series iPhone cases are hot off the press and limited in quantity. Griffin is featuring cases by 12 of their favorite artists and designers. While the physical case designs are all the same, every finish is unique, distinguished, and even printed locally. These limited edition shells are available for iPhone 4 and 5.

For iPhone 5, each case is a minimalistic one-piece shell. It’s light, thin, and just protective enough. It’s very simple in design. There’s an exposed top and bottom for easy access to ports and buttons. Even better, it will fit in most iPhone docks. There’s a large cutout for the camera and volume/toggle. The case just slightly exceeds iPhone’s face and creates a small border along the sides.

The Griffin Designer Series cases use a high quality printing process with a high gloss finish. The artwork covers the entire visible portion of the case. They’re printed locally in small batches with a percentage of the proceeds going to the artist/designer. It’s safe to say every one of these unique designer series cases are limited edition.

With 12 different artists/designers and XX cases to choose from, you’re bound to find something that speaks to you. We went for “this is not art 2″ by JT Daly for the days that we like to tone it down with a sophisticated yet simple fashion statement. The case is almost entirely black with one white stripe running up the center and a small block of text. There’s a very slight tint of blue around the sides, which might be due to the printing process. Even though Griffin’s Designer Series iPhone cases are limited in quantity, manufactured locally, and contribute a percentage of sales to the artist, they’re still available for the standard price of $29.99 from Griffin.com.

Good: Lots of options from various artists/designers, Light, Minimalistic, Comfortable, Fits in most docks, Great access to ports
Bad: Could be more protective, Printing could have been of higher resolution
