Past being an alarm and being a clock, there’s no more important feature for an alarm clock than the ability to take a punch. That, or be thrown against a wall, whatever your wake-up routine consists of. G-Project delivers with G-Buzz, a rugged alarm clock built to be outdoors and bedroom ready.
As far as gadgets go, this is one of the few times when the bedroom poses a much greater threat than the outdoors, but either way, the ruggedness is welcome. Actually, the ruggedness will be positively necessary when G-Buzz wakes you up with one of five horrifying morning sounds, including drums and rooster crowing. Needless to say, there’s a snooze bar—otherwise, turning the alarm off requires a good shake, which I think can still be accomplished by a good throw.
Like most alarm clocks, G-Buzz has an FM radio that you can also wake up to. When you’re already up, you can use the alarm clock as a speaker thanks to a headphone jack on the back. G-Buzz can be plugged into an outlet, but if you want to take it with you, you’ll unfortunately need to revert to the old ways and go get four AAA batteries.
And, hey, it’s cheap. G-Project is selling G-Buzz from their own site, Amazon, and Walmart for $30.
