About a year and a half ago, T-Mobile announced that they were going to start offering free international data in over 100 countries, along with discounted calling rates in those countries. Well, it’s taken a while, but Sprint has now also gotten on board with international data thanks to their new International Value Roaming plan.
Starting today, Sprint customers can add International Value Roaming to their wireless plans for free. International Value Roaming will, like T-Mobile’s plan, provide unlimited international data and discounted calling rates—the same as T-Mobile’s rates, at $0.20 per minute. There are a couple of downsides, though—that data is limited to 2G speeds, and Sprint’s plan is available in a lot fewer countries than T-Mobile’s. Currently, International Value Roaming is only available in Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Germany, Guatemala, Japan, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Russia, South Korea, Spain and the United Kingdom.
Even still, it’s not a bad deal, and great news if you’re a Sprint customer who frequently travels to one of those countries. To add International Value Roaming to your calling plan, all you need to do is head here and sign up.
