This week is about Mama Cax, the beloved disability activist and amputee model, who has tragically passed away at the age of 30.
Mama Cax was a groundbreaker. She was an activist. She helped advocate for the fashion industry to be more inclusive.

She was an amputee. A style icon. A woman to look up to.
Mama Cax was born Cacsmy Brutus in Haiti. At the tender age of 14, she was diagnosed with lung and bone cancer.
She needed a hip replacement after receiving cancer treatment, but just weeks after she had the procedure done, her body started rejecting the hip replacement.
Mama Cax ultimately needed an emergency amputation surgery performed on her right leg, which left her relying on a prosthetic as a teenager.
Losing her leg didn’t slow Mama Cax down one bit.
