The Mystery Surrounding The Disappearance And Death Of Jelani Day Has Only Deepened After His Autopsy Results Were Made Public

Bloomington Illinois. 25-year-old Jelani Day studied speech pathology at Illinois State University, and his dream was to one day be a doctor.

It was August 23rd when Jelani’s mom last spoke with him on the phone as he headed to one of his classes.

Jelani was the type of person who always returned his mom’s calls, so when she couldn’t reach him after that, she started to get worried.

Jelani’s family reported him as missing on August 25th, and authorities found security footage of him from the day he disappeared.

At 9:12 a.m. on the morning Jelani went missing, security cameras captured him walking into a store named Beyond/Hello. That was the last time Jelani was seen anywhere.

The very next day after Jelani was reported missing, his car was discovered hidden in the woods by the Illinois Valley YMCA, but he was still nowhere to be found.

In the days that followed, Jelani was a no-show for every one of his college classes, which only confirmed to his loved ones that something wasn’t right.

The Bloomington Police agreed that Jelani disappeared under “unexplained suspicious circumstances” and sadly, he was found dead on September 4th in the Illinois River.

“On Thursday, September 23, 2021, the LaSalle County Coroner identified the male body found as Jelani Day, 25, of Bloomington, Illinois through forensic dental identification and DNA testing and comparison,” the LaSalle County Coroner said in a press release.

The results of his autopsy were just released yesterday, and it was determined that his cause of death was due to drowning, but nobody knows how he ended up in the Illinois River.

Jelani’s autopsy pointed out that, “there was no evidence of any (pre-death) injury, such as manual strangulation, an assault or altercation, sharp, blunt, or gunshot injury, infection, tumor, natural disease, congenital abnormality, or significant drug intoxication.”

A few hours ago, Jelani’s mom took to a Facebook page created originally to help find him to address the autopsy results.

“The cause of death is drowning… DUH, HE WAS FOUND FACE DOWN IN A RIVER!! I don’t care what their press releases say, MY BABY WAS KILLED…..HE DID NOT DROWN HIMSELF!!!”

“HE COULD SWIM, he was an AVID swimmer, and swimmers DO NOT in general commit suicide by drowning!”

“Jelani lived a PROMISING, FULFILLING, HAPPY LIFE… he had goals, dreams, and aspirations… HE SHOWED AND DEMONSTRATED POSITIVE TRAITS, he was HOPEFUL AND HELPFUL, DETERMINED ABOUT HIS FUTURE…HE BELIEVED IN GOD!! HE HAD GREAT FAITH AND A STRONG UPBRINGING IN THE CHURCH!!”

“He’s NEVER had suicide attempts in the past, didn’t have mental health issues, which are all indicators of a suicidal person, MY SON DIDN’T HAVE NOT EVER SHOW THOSE INDICATORS!!”
