She Moved To California For College, Then Disappeared Last Fall After Being Seen On The Golden Gate Bridge One Morning
San Francisco, California. Last August, 19-year-old Sydney West moved from North Carolina to San Francisco so she could attend UC Berkeley.
“Sydney had suffered a concussion over the summer of 2020 and was still recovering when she left for school,” Sydney’s family wrote on a website dedicated to her.
“When she arrived at Berkeley, all of her classes were being conducted virtually because of the COVID-19 pandemic.”
“This proved challenging for Sydney and she made the decision to defer until Fall 2021 so she could fully recover.”
So, after Sydney chose to defer and left Berkeley, she moved to the Bay Area to live with some friends of her family.

Not long after that, Sydney vanished on the morning of September 30th, 2020 after using a rideshare app to drop her off at the Golden Gate Bridge.
Sydney was last seen entering the bridge that day at around 6:45 a.m. and nobody has seen her since then.
Sydney loved getting to spend her free time near the bridge, and she would frequently go walking or running there.

She also enjoyed taking photos on the bridge, or sometimes she would simply stop to soak in the beautiful scenery.
When Sydney went missing, she had been wearing dark-colored leggings, a teal hoodie, and Vans slip-ons with a tropical greenish-blue pattern.

Her hair was swept up into a bun, and she most likely had a black backpack with her, which was later found close to the bridge, but her phone was never recovered, and she had it with her that day.
One day after Sydney was spotted on the bridge, her family reported her as missing on October 1st when her dad couldn’t get a hold of her.
The day before Sydney disappeared she spoke to her dad that night for some time on the phone, and she had promised to talk to him the following day.
Sydney never called him on September 30th, and so, he tried again and again to call her but she never picked up. It was then that her family reached out to the authorities.

Now, there are cameras all over the Golden Gate Bridge, and authorities poured over the footage, but with disappointing results.
“All video footage from on and around the bridge on Sept. 30 has been carefully reviewed,” Sydney’s family noted on the website for her.
“Unfortunately, foggy conditions that morning obstructed many of the camera views making it impossible to tell her exact location on the bridge or how she may have exited the bridge.”
“The nearby wildfires impacted air quality as well. We do know that the bridge was busy with walkers, joggers, cyclists, commuters who may have seen something.”
It’s now been over a year since Sydney disappeared, and she hasn’t used her social media accounts, her phone, her credit card, or her bank card at all.

Sydney is 5’10” and 130 pounds. She has light brown hair and blue eyes. Sydney’s family is currently offering a $25,000 reward for information that brings Sydney home.
