She Was Sent Home In An Uber After Her Date Said Her Outfit Would “Embarrass Him”
TikToker @Nikki.Jabs spent forty minutes doing her makeup and was on her way to meet her date’s coworkers at a retail grand opening.
It was supposed to be a great night until he sent her home in an Uber because of her outfit.
“He said he was too embarrassed to be seen with me in this outfit, so he sent me home and went to the opening without me,” Jabs wrote on a TikTok video that showed her outfit.
The video quickly went viral, gaining over eight million views and over six hundred thousand likes.
In a follow-up video, Jabs is seen crying over the night’s events while “All Too Well” by Taylor Swift plays in the background.
“I’m just so sad because I spent so much time trying to look pretty and he sent me home in an Uber. Who does that!” Jabs vented.
The next scene is Jabs trying to pull herself together and reassure herself that she would be fine. All of her clothes were strewn across her van’s floor since she had been living in his house for the past three weeks.
In the original video, Jabs is seen wearing salmon pants, a black long sleeve top, and a hot pink trench coat.

Viewers everywhere demanded a “story time” behind the horrible situation.
“It all started with little comments here and there over the past couple of weeks,” Jabs began her storytime video. He would make comments to Jabs such as “why are you wearing heels?” or “why are you wearing so much makeup? I really like it better when you are natural.”
Jabs even thought that this behavior was fishy before the grand opening incident. So, she had texted her friend about the “no makeup” comments earlier that week. Her friend simply responded, “I don’t like that at all…”
The night of the grand opening, though, Jabs went to pick up the man from work. The plan was to have dinner together then move on to the work function. But, when he got into the car, Jabs noticed that he would not stop staring at her.
“I had a feeling what was coming,” Jabs said. She kept asking him why he was staring, to which he would brush it off by saying “nothing.”
“Finally, he just said I looked so pretty,” Jabs recalled, to which she responded, “Is this your way of telling me that I’m overdressed?”
He told Jabs “maybe not for dinner,” so she asked if he would be embarrassed if she showed up to his work function in that outfit.
“He didn’t say anything, so I asked if he would like me to go home and change,” Jabs said, “And then he just kept saying he felt so bad now.”
Once they got to the restaurant, Jabs was obviously not happy. These comments on how she chooses to dress had become a pattern over the weeks. So, she took a stand for herself.
“I said at the restaurant that I am either going like this or I am not going at all. Then, he asked if he could call me an Uber,” Jabs said.
She gladly accepted the Uber and traveled back to his place to pack up all of her stuff.
“He said that this [the space between her black top and salmon pants] was too revealing for his work function,” Jabs explained while pointing to her midriff. But, the real kicker is that the grand opening was for an athleisure clothing company. Her date was just wearing joggers and running shoes.
After the work function, the man did call Jabs since she had forgotten her laptop charger at his place. She went to pick it up but he would not stop pleading with her once she arrived.
“He did beg me to stay with him, apologizing and saying he should not have said anything to me. He also told me I would have been fine wearing what I was wearing and that he didn’t know why he told me to change. He even tried to hug me,” Jabs explained, “But I didn’t have any of it. I did not touch him and I did not stay.”
The TikTok community has supported Jabs throughout this whole ordeal. They also believe that she got out of this relationship just in time.
“I’m a domestic violence therapist and testing boundaries like this is exactly how domestic violence escalates in a relationship. I am glad you’re safe,” commented one user.
“Thank you so much for your insight. I’m glad I got out after only three weeks and not three years,” Jabs responded to the user.
“This is exactly how it began with my abusive ex. Thank you for showing what you should do; what I wish I had done,” commented another user.
If a partner begins testing boundaries and manipulating, this pattern rarely will stop there. Thankfully Jabs got out of this situation before it was too late. Still, women should not have to worry about these “red flags” in the first place.
Moving forward, if a man ever asks you to change your outfit or makeup, simply opt to go home as Jabs did.
It may not feel the best in the moment, but you will be saving yourself from a dreadful relationship of backhanded comments and manipulation.
